About you and this role

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Improvement Engineer to join our High-Pressure Copolymers plant in Dordrecht, The Netherlands!

The High-Pressure Copolymers plant in Dordrecht is part of the P&SP business and produces specific high margin Polyethylene grades such as Surlyn, Bynel and Fusabond via reactive extrusion or compounding. With the 2 extruder lines and around 42 employees (incl. operations, maintenance and logistics) it is a relatively small organization. Because of this, you get the opportunity to be involved in many more aspects of the Make Product Work Process. From raw materials coming in to finished product going out, continuous improvement can be expected in every step of the process. Dow Dordrecht is a tenant on the site of Chemours and works closely together with the different functions in Terneuzen as part of the West European Hub.

Responsibilities

  • Your in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets will help to establish credibility with the operations team.
  • You will drive knowledge exchange with technology experts to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the technology.
  • Partnering with the experts to develop and implement a Plant Specific Technology Plan (PSTP) that delivers positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting the plant level EH&S improvement goals.
  • Supporting the facility root cause investigation process by serving as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to process technology.
  • Leading and supporting plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP and also support the capital plan for the facility.
  • Leading continuous improvement activities for the facility and will serve in specific GPM related roles of project manager and manufacturing representative.
  • Participation in the on-call program for plant immediate response and advising similar to other day support roles.
  • You will champion process safety activities and act as a resource for relevant process safety concerns. You partner with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify and track performance indicators to be used in identification of technology gaps and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • You serve as the implementation arm of the technology center. This includes serving as the local focal point for Most Effective Technology (MET) implementation and compliance with EH&S standards.
  • Representing the plant in the geography and Business process safety network, in contact with the respective Process Safety Technology Leaders.

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical engineering or related.
  • You have minimum of 2 years of experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related experience.
  • Fluency in the English language.

Preferred qualifications

  • You are fluent in Dutch or willing to learn.
