A Day in the Life
Medtronic’s Integrated Circuits Design Team in Tempe, Arizona, is seeking a Senior Analog Design Engineer, with academic or professional background in low power IC design solutions. The ideal candidate is able to leverage his/her skills and experience to enhance and optimize ASICs to deliver superior performance and enable Medtronic’s lifesaving therapies’ advancement.
As a member of this IC Design Team, you will be involved in all phases of product development, including definition, design for testability, verification planning /Execution, system integration, characterization, and failure analysis under a heavily regulated quality and regulatory standard operating procedures. You will be an important part of an experienced product development team whose goal is to deliver the highest quality integrated circuits for use in live saving medical devices.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Analog design from taking product/block specification to defining architecture, and block level implementation
- Interface with layout teams to drive the best physical implementation at block level design
- Support block level and chip level simulations to verify the design and associated interfaces
- Support verification for functional coverage improvement and design debug
- Support IC test and hybrid test development/debug
- Interact and influence product engineering, test engineering, research and FW teams as part of the feature development process
- Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic parts, components or analog integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications.
- Determines design approaches and parameters.
- Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
- Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- May also review vendor capability to support product development.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

- Bachelors Engineering degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of analog design experience with medical devices
- Or advanced degree with 2 years of analog design experience with medical devices
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Electrical engineering/Computer Engineering
- Good understanding of analog design, analog design tools and analog design development process/flow
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work and contribute in a team-based matrix environment
- Professional/Academic/hands on exposure to analog IC design
- Ability to demonstrate innovation in defining and solving problems
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good organizational, reporting and presentation skills
- Hands on experience with lab equipment: Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, DMM, etc

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$103,200.00 - $154,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
