We are looking for a Senior HSE Business Partner to help shape and strengthen Health, Safety, and Environment performance across our terminals throughout the Americas. This role is based in Panama and offers the opportunity to travel extensively across North America, Latin America, and South America while partnering closely with terminal leaders and operational teams.

This position is ideal for someone who combines deep HSE expertise with strong business partnering capabilities. The successful candidate will thrive in operational environments, enjoy working closely with frontline teams, and be passionate about helping leaders create safer, more resilient workplaces.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with regional and terminal leadership teams to improve HSE performance across the Americas.
  • Support the development and execution of regional HSE improvement plans aligned with strategic priorities and operational risks.
  • Monitor HSE trends, identify emerging risks, and provide insights that support decision-making.
  • Drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the region.
  • Support the implementation of the HSE Strategy and HSE Management Framework.
  • Coordinate the investigation, learning, and closure of high-severity incidents.
  • Coach and influence leaders to strengthen ownership of HSE performance.
  • Support due diligence activities for new terminal projects and business growth opportunities.
  • Develop HSE talent through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Lead or contribute to regional and global HSE improvement projects.
  • Promote organizational learning, knowledge sharing, and the implementation of best practices across terminals.
     
What We Are Looking For
  • Significant experience in senior HSE, operational risk management, or business partnering roles.
  • Experience within ports, terminals, maritime operations, shipping, logistics, or other complex operational industries.
  • Strong ability to build trust and influence stakeholders without relying on hierarchy.
  • Proven experience coaching leaders and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and manage multiple priorities across different countries and cultures.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating across a global organization.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the Americas.

Qualifications
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in HSE, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the ports and terminals industry is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of LEAN, continuous improvement methodologies, and/or Training Within Industry (TWI) is considered an advantage.
  • Strong English and Spanish communication skills, both written and spoken.
