Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employment Law or Industrial /Labor Relations.
- 5+ years of experience HR, HR Compliance or labor and employment law compliance field.
- Experience working with state and federal legal and regulatory agencies, including legislative review, analysis and reporting.
- Experience in WOTC compliance, EEO1, VETS100 and AAP reporting, immigration administration and background adjudication.
- Prior experience with Workday preferred.
Job Summary
Responsible for providing strategic support and management for compliance programs, included but not limited to labor and employment law compliance, immigration compliance, AAP compliance, and various HR compliance lanes. Responsible for originating, implementing, monitoring and auditing internal compliance programs ensuring consistency and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws as well as regulations and enterprise policies and procedures.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Co-manages various HR/Legal Compliance programs to include, but not limited to, the employee hotline (AlertLine), employment verification, immigration sponsorship, background adjudication, state and federal compliance requirements, I-9 compliance, and policy affirmation.
- Works collaboratively with HR Partners to resolve problems that arise due to policy interpretations, procedural issues, job performance concerns, time off matters, harassment concerns, equal employment issues, etc. Assists in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
- Manages legislative research to keep department abreast of all applicable legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR activities to ensure the enterprise policies, procedures, and reporting activities are in compliance with federal, state and local laws related to employment.
- Manages effective working relationships with all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers. Assists with resolution of associate relations issues as needed.
- Manages the organization's Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Planning Programs in accordance with regulations, which include plan development, reporting, training, and providing full cycle day-to-day support as well as OFCCP audit support.
- Conducts training sessions covering specified compliance areas.
- Ensures proper and accurate invoicing for vendor provided services, coordinates timely payment and tracks posting/payment of funds.
- Writes effective executive summaries of proposals to change organization's processes.
Nature and Scope
- Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
- Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
- May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
