Job Summary & Responsibilities

As Senior HRBP for Scoular's Grain Division, you'll be the trusted advisor leaders turn to when the stakes are real, a tough employee relations issue, a hard-to-fill role at a facility, a team that needs to grow into what the business will need next year. You'll primarily support commodity merchandising teams, the people making buy, sell, and risk decisions in real time. It's a business that moves with the markets and the harvest calendar, where performance is measured in P&L and talent decisions have to keep pace.  You'll sit close to the business, work directly with managers across offices and facility sites, and have genuine influence over how our people are hired, developed, and retained. You'll report to VP of Human Resources for the Grain Division and have the backing of our HR Operations and HR Center of Excellence teams.

  • Advise leaders through performance management, disciplinary action, terminations.
  • Own employee relations investigations end to end, and bring issues to a fair, defensible resolution.
  • Translate business trends into HR solutions, using data and reporting to make what's happening visible before it becomes a problem.
  • Partner on hiring alongside talent acquisition — shaping job descriptions and posting language, coaching managers on interviewing, reviewing compensation, and setting new hires up to succeed.
  • Build bench strength and succession plans for commercial teams in partnership with people managers
  • Work with managers and employees on development planning that grows the workforce the business needs next.
  • Shape pay-for-performance, supporting incentive planning and compensation analysis with guidance from the VP of HR.
  • Support workforce planning, change management, M&A integration, and reduction-in-force processes.
  • Champion the culture, driving engagement and recognition and creating an environment that attracts and keeps great people.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 4+ years in employee relations
  • College degree in a business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • Solid grounding in HR programs and U.S. employment law
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, business acumen, and sound judgment with confidential information
  • Comfort with data — building metrics, spotting trends, and making the call
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the credibility to build relationships at every level
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates well with a remote team
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20%
