The Senior HR Business Partner, Japan is responsible for shaping and delivering the people priorities for Cytiva Japan, partnering closely with business leaders to enable sustainable growth, strong associate engagement, and a high‑trust, inclusive culture. This role plays a critical part in translating business strategy into people actions while ensuring consistency with Cytiva and Danaher standards, thoughtfully adapted to the local Japanese context.

This position reports to the Senior Director, HR APAC and is part of the APAC HR Business Partnering team, located in Tokyo, Japan, and is an on‑site role.

What you will do:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Japan leadership, as well as global leadership, providing guidance on organization design, workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Design and deliver people strategies that support business priorities in Japan while aligning with global and APAC HR frameworks. Partner with Japan GM and people leaders to build a high‑performance culture grounded in respect, clarity, accountability, and psychological safety, recognizing the importance of consensus‑based decision making and local norms.
  • Lead labor relations in Japan, including union engagement, and proactively manage people‑related risk of a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Ensure a consistent, fair, and engaging associate experience across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, engagement, and development.
  • Leverage the Danaher Business System and broader Danaher HR community to continuously improve processes, leadership capability, and associate experience.
  • Coach and support people leaders in Japan, strengthening leadership capability and fostering inclusive, compliant, and values‑based management practices.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Cytiva values and culture internally and externally, ensuring strong governance, integrity, and compliance with local labor laws and regulations.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Long‑standing experience in a senior HR generalist or HR business partner role within a matrixed, multinational organization.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders on complex people and organizational topics.
  • Strong working knowledge of Japanese labor law, employment practices, and employee relations.
  • Experience driving organizational change, leadership development, and culture initiatives.
  • Business‑oriented mindset with the ability to translate strategy into practical people solutions.
  • Professional fluency in Japanese and English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically within Japan and occasionally regionally, as business needs require.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience working in the life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, or healthcare industry.
  • Exposure to Danaher operating company environment or continuous improvement methodologies.
