Senior Highway Engineer – Pennsylvania Transportation Group

What You’ll Do
- Lead and support the design of transportation projects for agencies such as PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC).
- Develop roadway geometrics, modeling, cross sections, traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking layouts, utility coordination, and right‑of‑way plans.
- Collaborate with client teams, internal engineering disciplines, and marketing staff.
- Support and contribute to proposal development and business development efforts.
- Guide and coordinate design tasks with other team members to ensure high‑quality deliverables that meet schedule and budget expectations.
- Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Develop technical and price proposals.
- Work closely with practice leaders, office leadership, and client development teams to support both your professional growth and STV’s strategic goals.
- Build strong working relationships with client technical staff and project managers.
- Mentor and support junior civil engineering staff.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Pennsylvania PE preferred.
- 8–12 years of experience in highway engineering.
- Experience working with PennDOT, PTC, or other transportation agencies.
- Experience with New Jersey, New York, or other regional authorities is a plus.
- Familiarity with AASHTO design standards.
- Proficiency in MicroStation, Bentley/OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience in highway design and the ability to define scope and prepare engineering estimates.
- Ability to provide quality control oversight for highway engineering tasks.
- A passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers.
- Interest in participating in client service teams, proposal development, and business development activities.

Compensation Range:
