About the Role:
Based in Palo Alto, California, the Senior Global Employee Relations Manager, will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive employee relations strategy that aligns with our company's vision, values, and global business objectives. This individual will oversee the creation and implementation of policies and practices designed to foster a positive work environment, minimize risk, and ensure legal compliance across all our global operations. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Expansion, Workforce Planning, and Strategic Initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evolve Guardant Health’s Global Employee Relations function by designing a scalable program to provide strategic direction and relevant resources to the HR Business Partners and leaders throughout the organization.
- Establish and maintain a deep understanding of labor laws and employee relations practices across various regions and countries to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, plan, and implement policies and procedures that align with our core values, promote a positive employer-employee relationship, and contribute to an overall high level of employee engagement.
- Lead the resolution of complex employee relations issues, including investigations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, etc.
- Provide expert guidance and partner to HR Business Partners, management, and other stakeholders regarding employee relations matters.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development team to design and deliver training programs on key employee relations topics such as performance management, conflict resolution, and employment law.
- Partner with the legal department to establish global approach to ER matters, mitigate legal risk and exposure, and manage employment-related litigation strategies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Employee Relations function, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.
- Develop a method to track and analyze employee relations data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop proactive strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism, always maintaining trust and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, business, law, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MA, MBA) preferred.
- 10+ years Extensive experience in employee relations, labor law, or a related HR discipline, with a proven track record of successfully leading global employee relations initiatives.
- 3-5+ year HR Business Partner experience, preferred
- Proven record of accomplishment of conducting thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints and grievances, with the ability to effectively manage complex and sensitive situations.
- Broad knowledge of national & international labor standards and experience navigating complex employee relations issues in a multicultural and multinational business environment.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, strategic thinker with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.

Additional Information
Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $131,200 to $177,120. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).
For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $164,000 to $221,400. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
