The Division:
BiblioCommons is a Toronto-based software company that builds SaaS solutions for public libraries. Our team is passionate about making public libraries accessible, delightful and engaging, while having fun at the same time.
A lot of companies tout 'social impact', but at BiblioCommons we serve millions of diverse users each month by partnering with over 370 public libraries (including consortia members) in Canada and the US. Libraries are more than just book stacks — they are public spaces that foster learning, connection, and community; and BiblioCommons brings that community online with clever software that powers many of the largest libraries.
The Position:
Our engineering team puts the patron first by building user-friendly, accessible and scalable solutions that equip libraries to leverage best in class technology practices to serve their diverse communities.

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer on the Professional Services team, you will be responsible for enhancing and improving our existing products to ensure public libraries, and their patrons, enjoy the best online experience possible. In this role, you will collaborate with a talented team to deliver impactful solutions, making a meaningful difference for libraries and the communities they serve. This role provides an exciting opportunity to apply your skills and passion to impactful projects, using an AI-driven workflow.
This position is initially for the 9-month contract with the possibility of extension

How you’ll make an impact:
Work as part of a cross functional team to build fullstack solutions that improve the online patron experience using React, NodeJS, Rails and Java.
Use AI assistants and agents to build features with less effort
Write robust and quality code with appropriate tests
Take ownership for the design, development and operationalization of features
Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross functional members such as PS, Product, UX, and QA
Participate in architecture designs, code review, and best practice discussions
What you will bring to the team:
5+ years of software development experience building large scale fullstack applications
Proven backend experience using Java
Strong theoretical foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices
Experience leveraging AI to build features with less effort, while maintaining high quality
Strong understanding of HTML, SCSS, and JavaScript
Extensive experience building backend RESTful API applications
Experience debugging and optimizing large-scale systems
Passionate, motivated, and capable of working autonomously
Strong communication skills and collaborative across team
