Senior Fullstack Engineer - New Initiative (Portugal-based Remote/Hybrid)
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications using Python, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks (React or Vue.js);
- Create robust production systems that power core features and clinical decision support tools;
- Implement and optimize APIs, data pipelines, and backend services integrated with our AI/ML workflows;
- Collaborate closely with AI, Product, Data, and Engineering teams to define and deliver high-impact features that elevate the user experience;
- Architect efficient systems for deploying machine learning models at scale;
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following modern development practices;
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a high-performance engineering culture;
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues across the full stack;
- Advocate for engineering excellence and help evolve our tech stack, tooling, and processes.
What you need to have:
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Fullstack Engineer;
- Proficiency in Python (our primary backend language) or Node.js, with deep understanding of their ecosystems;
- Hands-on experience with React or Vue.js in production;
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems;
- Experience working with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases;
- Familiarity with containerized environments using Docker;
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure;
- Strong problem-solving skills, autonomy, and an ability to break down complex technical challenges;
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments and collaborating across disciplines.
What we would love to see:
- Strong UI/UX design sensibility and ability to translate product requirements into intuitive user experiences;
- Experience in healthcare or health-tech environments;
- Background integrating AI/ML models into production applications;
- Proficiency in FastAPI, Django, or Flask for building backend services;
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., GCP Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ);
- Knowledge of testing frameworks like PyTest, Jest, or Mocha, and CI/CD practices;
- Contributions to open-source or personal GitHub repositories;
- A passion for building software that helps real people live healthier lives.
