Role Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Full-stack WordPress Developer to contribute to our web development projects. This role involves full-stack development on both front-end and back-end WordPress projects. You will work on high-performance, scalable solutions including custom themes, plugins, and integrations with various APIs. You'll collaborate closely with your team, supporting technical strategy while mentoring junior developers and ensuring best practices.
Key Responsibilities:

  • WordPress Development:
    • Contribute to the development and modernization of our WordPress infrastructure.
    • Work on projects involving static site generation, headless WordPress, and integrations with microservices.
  • Full-stack Development:
    • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and integrations.
    • Implement responsive front-end designs using HTML5, and CSS3.
    • Write clean, modular, and scalable PHP code following PSR-12 standards, and ensure JavaScript follows Airbnb's guidelines.
  • Hands-on Development:
    • Actively contribute to both back-end and front-end development efforts.
    • Ensure projects meet performance goals, especially Core Web Vitals.
    • Optimise WordPress websites for performance, SEO, and scalability.
  • Agile Collaboration:
    • Participate in Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives).
    • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality customer-facing features.
    • Work within one of our WordPress teams focused on organic brands or paid landing pages.
  • Mentorship & Team Support:
    • Provide guidance and support to junior developers.
    • Engage in code reviews and contribute to shared knowledge within the team.
  • Documentation & Best Practices:
    • Ensure clear, thorough documentation for all code and development processes.
    • Implement and support automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and continuous deployment to maintain project momentum.


    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Senior Developer Experience:
      • 4+ years of experience in a senior WordPress development role, working on high-performance web systems.
      • Expertise with PHP, WordPress core, and Gutenberg blocks.
    • Full-stack Expertise
      • Expertise in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 to a high standard.
      • Experience with back-end integrations via REST APIs, GraphQL, and third-party service integrations.
    • Performance Optimization:
      • Demonstrated ability to optimise websites for Core Web Vitals and deliver fast, responsive user experiences.
    • Collaboration & Problem-solving:
      • Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to architectural discussions.
      • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and collaboration.
    • Additional Skills:
      • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and managing deployment processes.
      • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and AWS cloud platform.
      • Knowledge of modern JS frameworks like React or Vue.js.


      Work Environment & Culture:

      • Location: Work remotely from the UK for 2 days per month in our London-based office for collaboration and team days.
      • Agile Workflow: Work in two-week sprints using Scrum methodologies, focusing on continuous delivery and iterative improvements.
      • Team Focus: Join one of two WordPress teams, focusing either on organic brands or paid landing pages, with opportunities to collaborate on key architectural decisions.
