About the role
We’re looking for Software Engineers to help build and scale the systems that power Picnic’s delivery logistics platform.
Engineers at Picnic work closely with product, operations, and design teams to solve real-world operational problems through software. Depending on project needs and individual strengths, engineers may work on backend services, internal operations tools, or customer-facing applications.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning problems end-to-end, building reliable production systems, and working in an environment where software directly impacts physical operations.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and ship production systems that support Picnic’s delivery and logistics platform
- Contribute to systems that power real-time workflows such as order batching, courier routing, and delivery operations
- Build and improve internal tools and product surfaces used by operations teams, couriers, and eaters
- Own projects from technical design through implementation, testing, launch, and iteration
- Work closely with Product, Design, Operations (in the same office!), and Couriers to translate operational challenges into effective technical solutions
- Improve system reliability, performance, and observability through monitoring, testing, and thoughtful engineering practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining a high bar for engineering quality
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience building and shipping production software systems
- Strong programming skills and familiarity with modern development technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript, Ruby, Python, Go, PostgreSQL)
- Ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion with high quality
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous or evolving environments
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working across engineering and cross-functional teams
- A strong engineering mindset focused on building reliable, maintainable systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or operating logistics, delivery, or real-time systems at scale
- Background in fast-growing, high-execution technology companies
- Track record of improving developer productivity through tooling, patterns, or process improvements
