Job Summary: The company is looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic financial Structurer who will help Candi to lead the revolution of solar by focusing on the financial structuring of solar projects in South Africa. Given that Candi is taking solar into a new realm with a new set of tools, the role will require creativity, innovation and a new way of thinking.
Specifically, the job involves taking a prominent role in the following:
- Managing solar transactions, including negotiation, due diligence, financial modelling, coordinating stakeholders, legal documentation and any aspect requiring attention in order to bring transactions to a successful close
- Performing financial, structuring and legal analysis on target deals to come up with optimal solutions for Candi and its clients
- Reviewing and negotiating legal documentation with external parties as required
- Working closely with Business Development, Risk, Engineering, Finance and Asset Management in order to successfully close these deals
- Spending time pitching to clients and coming up with innovative solutions to meet clients’ needs
- Analysing, pricing and executing opportunities in the secondary markets (e.g. portfolios of projects for sale)
- Helping to define and execute on a strategy for accelerating the pace and conversion of solar projects in South Africa
Location: Johannesburg, Ballito or Cape Town (combined with working from home)
Hours: Full time (those wishing to work less than full time will also be considered, depending on experience).
Job Requirements:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in financial and/or legal structuring and/or M&A at a financial institution, corporate, utility or law firm
- Several years of experience structuring C&I or utility scale solar projects
- An affinity for numbers and quantitative matters, being very comfortable with financial models (i.e. proficient in excel, coding skills are a plus)
- A solid understanding of financial risks
- A solid understanding of solar financial products
- Experience with legal documentation – i.e. an ability to review and negotiate contracts with third parties
- Being at ease with coordinating and interacting with various stakeholders (internal and external)
- Being good at juggling multiple transactions and projects at the same time
- A track record of thriving in a fast-paced environment and an ability to work towards and hit KPIs
- Being a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Being very comfortable working in the digital realm, using tools such as Microsoft Office / Google suite and other remote working tools
- Excellent written and spoken English required, additional languages are a plus
- A degree in finance, business, law or related qualifying experience
