Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and Job annual financial reporting packages for executive leadership, covering revenue, cost of funds, credit losses, and operating expenses across the credit card portfolio.
- Conduct actual-vs.-projected variance analysis to identify performance drivers, communicate findings and recommend corrective actions or strategic adjustments.
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast card portfolio performance, including spend volumes, interchange revenue, net interest income, and credit loss trajectories.
- Identify opportunities to optimize the cost structure of the card program, including issuing bank fees, processing costs, and credit loss reserves, and propose changes to drive margin improvement.
- Manage vendor financial relationships to drive further margin improvement.
- Partner with Data Analytics to build and maintain performance dashboards and standardized reporting templates that enable data-driven decision-making across finance and product leadership.
- Monitor industry benchmarks and competitive card economics to contextualize GoodLeap's performance and surface opportunities for improvement.
- Partner closely with Accounting/FP&A and the Capital Markets team to support portfolio-level decisions, including the timing, structure, and sizing of credit card account sales and securitizations.
- Analyze portfolio performance metrics, including delinquency rates, loss curves, prepayment rates, performance of aged accounts, and portfolio yield to inform optimal timing and structure for portfolio sales or financing transactions.
- Track and report on portfolio sale economics — including gain-on-sale margins and retained servicing obligations and incorporate transaction outcomes into ongoing financial forecasting.
- Track and balance net interchange revenue and cardholder reward liability to ensure equilibrium.
- Determine portfolio sale sizing and timing to balance equity requirement of the program.
- Serve as GoodLeap's primary financial point of contact with the issuing bank partner, owning the day-to-day relationship and ensuring all financial communications are clear, timely, and professional.
- Proactively manage the calendar of bank reporting obligations, ensuring all materials are delivered on time and in the format required by the bank.
- Respond promptly and accurately to bank requests for financial information, ad-hoc analyses, and supporting documentation; coordinate internally across Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Product to gather inputs and meet bank deadlines.
- Maintain a deep understanding of contractual obligations under the bank program agreement, including reporting cadences, performance covenant thresholds, and approval requirements; proactively flag potential issues before they become compliance risks.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in finance, financial planning & analysis, or capital markets, preferably within credit card, fintech, or financial services.
- Strong financial modeling skills with demonstrated experience building and maintaining complex multi-variable models for forecasting, scenario analysis, and portfolio performance.
- Experience with financial planning and analysis functions including budget planning, variance analysis, and executive reporting; proven ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
- Experience managing institutional relationships — including bank partners, investors, or rating agencies — with demonstrated ability to manage reporting calendars, respond to requests under time pressure, and maintain credible, professional relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to distill complex financial information into clear executive-level narratives and maintain high-quality written deliverables for external bank partners.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity; energized by building processes and financial infrastructure from the ground up in a fast-moving startup-like environment.
