Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Life Insurance Companies
- Work independently to support the successful completion of Statutory financial reporting deliverables and regulatory requirements, including quarterly exhibits and schedules for the three life insurance entities quarterly statement including coordination with BU stakeholders
- Ownership and preparation of one of the Company’s annual separate account financial statements filings including coordination with business unit stakeholders.
- Participate in the annual financial statement close and reporting process including preparation of various footnote and exhibit disclosures for and fulfillment of regulatory requirements.
- Manage reporting for related party activity on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Manage the review of updates to the related party agreements and coordinating certification from the owners for the annual related party service agreement analysis.
- Monitor untagged accounts and coordinate quarterly ledger close
- Prepare quarterly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances.
- Provide cross training and oversight for tasks and assignments transitioned to other team members and for cross training.
- Assist with department initiatives and process improvements
- Work on special projects and analysis, as requested
Non-Life insurance companies
- Perform quarterly billings, reclass entries, summarized invested asset roll-forward information
- Board material preparation including compiling financial statements, analyzing the financials for unusual variances, providing explanations and developing associated commentary included in the Board materials for four non-life insurance companies
- Monitor untagged accounts and coordinate quarterly ledger close
- Prepare quarterly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances.
- Assist with annual employee benefit plan audits and controls as needed, and ongoing invoicing responsibilities.
Throughout,
- Maintain strong process documentation
- Identify process streamlining and automation opportunities, and influence actions to implement
- Provide prompt service to set up and evaluate financial reporting implications of any new products and initiatives
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree concentrating in Accounting; CPA is an advantage
- 6+ years of accounting, preferably in life insurance
- Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation) and must be willing to work on a night shift schedule
Skills to Hire/Must Haves:
- Knowledge of accounting/ledger systems, tools (e.g., Essbase/SmartView) and financial reporting processes
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage priorities, proactively investigate issues, troubleshoot, use judgement, and deliver timely and quality results
- Strong professional judgment, accountability, customer service, and eye for efficiency improvements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with influencing and negotiation abilities
- Excellent analytical, organizing, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and integrate with international team members
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications quickly
