The Senior Financial Analyst provides expert level financial modeling, analysis, interpretation, and recommendations to support management decision making with respect to organizational initiatives and their impact on the organization’s financial performance. The role benefits from a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry and our organization and a comfort level interacting with various levels of management.


How you will create impact:
  • Partners with business unit management teams to further both parties understanding of the business unit performance as it relates to organizational performance and to provide support for business unit initiatives. Such support will include preparation/review of business cases, what-if analyses and follow-up analyses after implementation.
  • Collaborating with business partners to support profitability analysis, communicating key insights and findings, and influencing them to take action on the findings.
  • Models, analyzes, and forecasts premium, claims and expense-related performance on a quarterly and annual basis. Such modeling / forecasting will include research into environmental and industry trends, in-depth variance analysis, business unit financial performance assessments, and complex ad-hoc analysis of interest to senior management.
  • Conducts periodic reviews with business partners to identify gaps in information reporting and new information requirements. Designs, recommends and implements solutions to meet business partner needs.
  • Coaching team members on problem-solving and promoting team involvement and increasing efficiency as a team.
  • Responsible for the development, documentation and maintenance of departmental processes and procedures. Initiates and leads projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the unit.

To join our team:
  • University degree in Business/finance/accounting, mathematics/actuarial sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Having or working towards professional accounting designation or appropriate professional qualifications (CA, CMA, CGA, CFA or MBA) is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years related business or accounting experience.
  • Advanced spreadsheet, reporting/budgeting software and data warehouse tool knowledge.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and insurance accounting.

Expected salary range $60,574 - $100,956

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
