Objective: The Senior Financial Analyst position performs various duties in a timely and professional manner according to the department protocol. The position includes preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, supporting documentation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily bank deposit entries, backup for payroll, support the budget process, assist in the preparation of annual financial audit and 401k audit, account reconciliations and the completion of special accounting/budget projects that may arise from time to time. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for complying with established and/or recommending new organization and department policies and procedures. The Senior Financial Analyst attends all mandatory in-service programs and maintains professional educational requirements commensurate with licensed status.

Essential Duties:

  • Know and support the Mission Statement, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Work with Finance Department to ensure that financial information is accurately reported.
  • Work with information systems to ensure various accounting systems are operating effectively.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and controls of general ledger processes, including 1) ensuring that all accounts are required and that the activity within each account is appropriate, 2) compiling financial and statistical reports for community organizations and outside agencies as required, and 3) ensuring that transactions from other systems (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and reimbursement) are properly classified in the general ledger system.
  • Responsible for reporting based on General Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Oversight of accounts payable and maintenance of reports, files and other support information as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting required 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience gained through increasingly responsible positions within accounting
  • Working knowledge of manual computerized systems
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver license
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Skills and abilities in Excel, Word and Crystal report writing
  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating system
  • Skilled in typing, data entry, electronic filing and document retrieval
  • Professional administrative skills, including management principles and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate sound judgment
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing financial reporting and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to think and work independently, yet function effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Factors: Suitable dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Capability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. High emotional effort. Position can be hectic with periods of high stress. Position requires managing multiple tasks in a time critical manner.

Working Conditions: Most work is done in a typical office setting. Inside generally 100%; however, may include outside work on occasion.
