Your New Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Finance Business Manager is responsible for the effective management and operation of the CFO’s office. The role exists to ensure strong governance, coordination, and execution across the Finance function, enabling the CFO and Finance leadership to operate with clarity, discipline, and focus on strategic priorities.

The role brings structure, rhythm, and coherence to how the Finance function is run—overseeing business management activities, leadership forums, communications, and delivery tracking—while reducing operational burden on senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

CFO’s Office Management

  • Run the day‑to‑day operations of the CFO’s office, acting as a trusted partner and extension of the CFO.

  • Provide structure, cadence, and discipline across Finance leadership activities, priorities, and commitments.

  • Ensure the CFO’s time, agenda, and focus are used effectively and aligned to strategic priorities.

  • Act as a first point of coordination for matters flowing into and out of the CFO’s office.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Board and Committee Papers: Drafting, coordinating and quality‑assuring finance‑related board and committee papers, ensuring content is technically sound, concise, decision‑focused and aligned to board expectations.

  • Technical Finance Support: Assisting the CFO on technical finance matters as required, including accounting standards, financial judgments, policy interpretation and emerging regulatory considerations, leveraging specialist input where appropriate.

  • Financial Insight and Governance: Applying strong financial acumen to frame issues, options and implications for executive and board consideration, while ensuring high standards of accuracy, governance and risk awareness in all finance materials

Prioritisation & Tracking

  • Coordinate Finance‑wide planning, priority setting, and sequencing of major activities and initiatives.

  • Maintain oversight of key deliverables, performance milestones, and interdependencies across the Finance function.

  • Surface risks, delivery issues, or conflicts early, enabling timely resolution and course correction.

  • Support the CFO and Finance leadership team with integrated views of priorities, capacity, and progress.

Domain Communications

  • Coordinate Finance leadership communications, ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and well‑timed.

  • Support preparation of key internal communications, leadership updates, and briefing materials.

  • Act as a connector across Finance leaders to ensure alignment and reduce duplication or fragmentation.

  • Manage sensitive information with discretion, judgement, and professionalism.

What You’ll Need

  • Financial Technical Competency.: Strong technical finance capability, including a sound understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, judgments and controls, with the ability to critically review, challenge and contribute to board‑level finance papers and complex CFO matters.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment and dealing with ambiguity.

  • Experience in senior business management, chief of staff, executive office, or equivalent roles within complex organisations.

  • Experience operating at executive level, supporting senior leaders with discretion and sound judgement.

  • Strong understanding of governance, executive decision‑making, and organisational rhythm.

  • Exposure to Finance or corporate functions within regulated or complex environments is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and with a high degree of complexity.

  • Strong decision-making capability.

  • Ability to work cross functionally to deliver sound outcomes to a broad range of stakeholders.
