Job Description

Role: Senior Commercial Finance Analyst

Location: Shepherds Bush, London, Hybrid

Here at Gousto we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to join our growing Finance team in our Activate tribe. Reporting to the 'Head of Commercial Finance - Activate', you will be supporting the Acquisition and Brand marketing teams to drive high-value sign-ups and long-term brand awareness through effective allocation of spend.

We are on a mission to attract, acquire and retain customers by building strong brand awareness, enticing customers with relevant and effective discounts, and ensuring that their sign-up journey is as smooth and engaging as possible, encouraging them to order more frequently and taking us one step closer to becoming the UK’s most loved way to eat dinner.

Core Responsibilities

  • Media investment cases - Working with the Brand / Acquisition teams to incorporate Econometrics MMM learnings, media response curves, channel LTV data and halos to optimise a) total media spend to meet our target payback period b) the balance between brand vs acquisition, and c) channel mix, and preparing ROI calculations to support investment asks. Turning this output into a phased sign-ups / CPA forecast

  • New marketing channel testing - Evaluating the profitability of new marketing channel tests and partnerships, and making recommendations on which to pursue longer term

  • RAF - Ownership of the financial value of our Refer A Friend programme, working with marketing to test, learn, and prioritise initiatives that will drive the most commercial value

  • Propositional initiatives - Financial modelling of the topline & marketing P&L impact of cross-tribe sign-up driving initiatives (i.e.expanding to further households, and territories)

  • Price & Promotion strategy - Modelling the financial impact of different acquisition discount strategies (first box, introductory period and delivery discounts) to optimise for changing business priorities (ie. profitability vs topline growth). Supporting your manager on core box price increase modelling

  • Tech Squad OKR performance - Supporting Activate Tech squads to meet their Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) through regular performance tracking, reporting and financialisation of key metrics

  • Forecasting, Budget and Performance Cycles - Liaising with the Activate Finance Analyst and Senior Trading Manager to ensure that all of the impacts of the above initiatives are captured in the orders model and marketing cost forecasts. Leading the annual budget process for Acquisition and Brand. Attending performance meetings, delivering key insights on your areas and driving business recommendations

  • Risks / Opportunities - Working regularly with Activate business partners to ensure that all risks and opportunities are captured, financialised and kept up to date, and exploring solutions to mitigate risks and capitalise on opps at pace. Making decisions on when to put a risk/opp into forecast to ensure it remains balanced and realistic

  • Culture - Championing team culture, regularly attending Gousto team updates, learning and inclusion events. Actively contributing to and progressing Finance, Legal and Risk pillar goals (Pillars: Inclusion, Learning & Development and Automation)

Learning and development is the key to growth and at Gousto; you will have the opportunity to develop your technical and non-technical skills. Whether this be through online courses, Gousto Academy or even external courses, this role will offer the opportunity to progress and develop.

Who you are:

  • Studying towards a finance qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)

  • Successful, proven experience in a similar finance, trading or analytics role

  • Strong Excel and/or G Suite skills, including financial modelling

  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, which supports you in prioritising your work, as well as prioritising what’s right for our customers

  • Excellent communicator, with the ability to succinctly summarise complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner for stakeholders of any level/function

  • Curious and proactive. We seek to understand problems deeply and are proactive and fast in anticipating future business and customer needs.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience using SQL, BI tools and large datasets

  • Experience business partnering a Trading or Marketing function

  • Experience working in a subscription-based business
