OVERVIEW
McCain is embarking on a digital transformation. As part of this transformation, we are making significant investments in our data platforms, common data models. data structures and data policies to increase the quality of our data, the confidence of our business teams to use this data to make better decisions and drive value through the use of data.
We have a new and ambitious Data, AI and Analytics group, which serves as a resource to business teams across the globe. We are currently recruiting an experienced Principal Engineer to own the Tech Mandatory aspects of the Data Platform.
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Global Director of Data Platforms and Services, the Principal Engineer for the Data, AI and Analytics team will lead deployment, implementation, and sustainability of the key technological components in the Data Platform landscape. This includes overseeing data storage, integration, processing, warehousing, analytics, BI tools, data science platforms, big data ecosystems, governance, security, collaboration, version control, and visualization tools. The Principal Engineer ensures these technologies support departmental goals, drive innovation, and maintain data quality, performance, and security. They will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with business objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Azure Cloud Architecture: Lead and design scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on Azure.
• FinOps: Implement and manage financial operations to optimize cloud spending and drive cost efficiency.
• Support Team Management: Lead and manage the support team to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and high level of customer satisfaction.
• Incident and Problem Management: Oversee the identification, analysis, and resolution of incidents and problems to ensure minimal disruption to cloud services.
• Cloud Evangelist: Advocate and promote cloud technologies and best practices both internally and externally.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure seamless integration and performance.
• Technical Skills: Develop and deploy solutions using Databricks, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Monitoring, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Fabric, GitHub and Power BI.
• Knowledge of IT operations concepts and processes, such as monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis, remediation.

• Cross-Functional Alignment: Strong collaboration with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders, resulting in aligned goals and successful project outcomes.
• Data Quality: High standards of data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across the platform.
• Compliance: Adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards, minimizing risks and ensuring data privacy.
• System Uptime: High uptime and reliability of the data and analytics platform.

KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:

• Experience: Minimum of 15 years in cloud architecture, with significant experience in Azure.
• Skills: Proficient in Databricks, AKS, Monitoring, ADLS, Synapse, Fabric, and Power BI.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage a support team and lead complex projects efficiently.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Certification: Relevant Azure certifications are highly desirable.
