ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Finance/Accounting Specialist I provides specialized services in accounting or similar financial activities for a department or business unit. They are an expert in their area of specialization. They administer and maintain finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

As a member of the Finance Team and reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Finance Analyst provides finance and accounting-related services, including controllership, to the Argentina and Southern Andes business units. They provide specialized services in accounting, provider payments, and payroll. They support short-term projects and have expertise in their area of specialization. They administer and maintain finance and accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management. They use TNC's Code of Conduct and Competencies Guide in their actions and serve as an example for others.

Responsibilities

  • Follow our Code of Conduct and consistently demonstrate our Values

  • Ensure TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met

  • Review month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Monitor the quality of accounting records and supporting documentation

  • Supervise cash management and banking operations

  • Ensure timely bank reconciliations

  • Supervise the accounts payable processes and supports accounts receivable management

  • Lead the fiscal year close process for both Business Units (BUs)

  • Coordinate local tax compliance activities with external advisors

  • Oversee statutory filings, certifications and financial regulatory requirements

  • Perform financial analysis based on available information, identifies potential risks and/or next steps

  • Support in preparing and coordinating reports, coordinating payroll processes

  • Support internal and external audits

  • Supervise one or more staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination.

  • Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations.

  • Experience using automated accounting systems.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English abilities are preferred (at least a working level of reading and writing in English is needed)

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in work product

  • Experience designing processes to assure accurate and on-time provider payments

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Able to work independently but also function well as part of a team

  • Non-profit accounting experience is considered a plus
