A DAY IN A LIFE
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in managing financial transactions, including accounts payable, general ledger entries, and cashflow management.
- Analyse financial data to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support accurate financial reporting.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting when required.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to optimize collections, ensuring timely payments from clients through follow-ups and issuing reminders/statements.
- Address collection issues, reconcile customer accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure the timely and accurate issuance of invoices and credit notes to customers, including uploading to customer portals.
- Generate sales reports, sales journals, and perform reconciliations to support month-end reporting activities.
- Regularly review aging reports to determine appropriate actions for handling aged debts and partial payments.
- Communicate and follow up on action plans with the team lead and local business unit Controller to resolve outstanding debts or disputes.
- Review and propose updates to credit terms and limits for new and existing customers.
Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the AR function.
- Explore and recommend technology solutions to improve processes while maintaining cost-neutrality.
These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, accounts receivable, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
