The Role

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Executive Communications Manager to join our Communications team in a newly created role to be a strategic partner to our Research & Development (R&D) leadership team. This is a great opportunity to help build and shape communications for a high-growth organization and work closely with a dynamic, innovative group of leaders.

This is a remote position open to candidates based in Canada.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the future of physical operations: Your efforts will highlight the groundbreaking innovations coming out of our R&D organization, contributing to safer, smarter, and more sustainable operations for the industries that power our world.
  • You’re energized by innovation: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy is fueled by our R&D teams, and your role will be crucial in bringing their impactful work to light for our employees and the broader industry.
  • You want to be at the forefront of technology: At Samsara, you’ll be embedded within a team of talented engineers and product leaders, helping to communicate their cutting-edge work in AI, hardware, and more.
  • You want to be with the best: Samsara’s high-performance culture means you’ll be surrounded by the best and challenged to go farther than you have before.
  • You are a team player: At Samsara, sales is a team sport. We help each other out by sharing best practices and focusing on winning as a team.

In this role, you will:

  • Support R&D leaders on a wide range of employee communications, including strategic consultation on organizational changes, town halls, AMAs, and crafting written communications to R&D teams.
  • Build and work cross-functionally to execute integrated communication strategies for key R&D SVPs and VPs (focusing on leaders in Safety, Connected Workforce, and Connected Equipment).
  • Develop and execute external communication initiatives to build the talent brand for select R&D SVPs and VPs through press, social media, events, podcasts, and compelling content (bylines, blogs, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Marketing, and other teams to develop engaging content for keynotes and mainstage sessions.
  • Use a data-driven approach to measure the impact of communication initiatives, iterate on strategies, and collaborate with stakeholders across Communications, Marketing, HR, and R&D.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s values and operating principles as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 8+ years of communications experience, with a focus on employee and/or executive communications, at a high growth Tech/SaaS company.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills (written, verbal, and visual) with experience originating creative content across a variety of channels.
  • Proven track record supporting senior leaders with internal and external communications.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally to execute communication plans.
  • Background in developing thought leadership content, employee communications, and ideally some experience with media relations or external branding.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience working directly with Research & Development organizations.
  • Familiarity with the enterprise SaaS market.
  • Experience with event content development and execution.
