Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
Your future team
To be a 100-year company, we are proudly building a world-class engineering organization composed of empowered teams that are equipped with the tools and infrastructure to do the best work of their careers.
The Developer Infrastructure (Dev Infra) organization powers the systems, runtime environments, and tooling that every Atlassian engineer relies on daily. Engineering at Atlassian prioritizes initiatives that advance AI and support our customers' transition to the cloud while consistently delivering maximum value through our core product suite - Jira, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket.
Because Dev Infra actively dogfoods and partners directly with commercial product teams, the solutions and infrastructure your team proves internally have a direct pathway to becoming features in Atlassian's customer-facing developer and AI products. We seek individuals who are eager to shape the future and believe in the power of collaboration to achieve extraordinary results together.
In this role, you will:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing distributed team of engineering managers, principal engineers, and senior software engineers.
- Drive AI Measurement & Evaluation by building frameworks that measure whether AI tools and agents are genuinely delivering value across codebases and workflows.
- Optimize AI Effectiveness and context retrieval pipelines, driving down unit costs while improving model accuracy and agent reliability.
- Build and operate scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient compute and runtime infrastructure for agentic workflows and developer tooling.
- Be the engineering voice in quarterly planning, capacity allocation, and long-term technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, product management, and cross-functional partners to productize internally proven AI platform capabilities.
- Foster an open, high-trust, operationally mature engineering culture with high standards of technical excellence and psychological safety.
Your background:
- 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams.
- 2+ years of experience managing other engineering managers or leading teams of senior/principal engineers.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferably a Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong foundational background in distributed systems, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), or developer tooling.
- Experience with applied AI/ML systems, LLMs, AI agents, MCP tooling, RAG, or AI evaluation frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with product managers, TPMs, and designers to shape product and platform strategy.
- Proven track record of operating in distributed, asynchronous global engineering environments across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrated experience implementing DevOps, CI/CD, and site reliability best practices.
- Excited to foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and operational rigor.
