The Role
Lead technical design and optimization of transmission line projects: process survey/LiDAR/drone data, define tower spotting, finalize tower locations and types, perform tower integrity checks, generate route alignments and BOQs, prepare crossing proposals, oversee O&M and As-Built documentation, and improve post-bid design for profitability.
Summary Generated by Built In
Design & Technical Leadership
- Spearhead the processing of survey data and define criteria for tower spotting in domestic tenders and projects
- Prepare and submit EPC-submitted detail and check surveys; finalize tower locations and types—including extensions—using PLS-CADD
- Conduct tower integrity checks including wind span, weight span, phase sequence, and transposition; utilize Optimum for domestic spotting
- Generate tower schedules and route alignments using Google Earth and PLS-CADD to support accurate BOQ generation
- Create and review design packages including route alignment, LiDAR and drone data classification, vegetation reports, and structure usage profiles
- Prepare Crossings Proposals of Powerline, Railways, Highways, River and Forest for submission to the clients.
Project Optimization & Profitability
- Lead post-bid design optimization by recalibrating tower quantities and alignments to improve project margins before EPC partner finalization
- Develop transmission line profiles and technical specifications using AutoCAD, Global Mapper, Toposheets, and relevant design tools
- Manage crossing proposals, liaising with stakeholders and clients for validation and approval of power line intersections
Operational Oversight & Documentation
- Oversee O&M workstreams and generate “As-Built” documentation to support long-term infrastructure reliability
- Validate technical design packages for ongoing transmission line maintenance and upgrades
Skills Required
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD for tower spotting and alignment
- Experience using Optimum for tower spotting and integrity checks
- Skilled in AutoCAD for transmission line profiles and design documentation
- Experience with Google Earth, Global Mapper, and Toposheets for route alignment and mapping
- Knowledge of LiDAR and drone data classification and integration into design packages
- Ability to conduct tower integrity checks (wind span, weight span, phase sequence, transposition)
- Experience preparing EPC detail/check surveys, BOQ support, and generating tower schedules
- Experience preparing crossing proposals (powerline, rail, highways, river, forest) and client liaison
- Experience leading post-bid design optimization to improve project margins
- Ability to oversee O&M workstreams and prepare As-Built documentation
