About the Role:
As a senior engineering manager at Remitly, you will be responsible for taking on complex technical and customer problems and creating great products.
The Trust Intelligence team is a cornerstone of Remitly’s Transaction Integrity efforts, which are dedicated to building and scaling platform capabilities powered by advanced predictive methodologies to mitigate risks such as payment fraud, consumer scams, and promotional abuse. This team focuses on building and maintaining a robust risk data infrastructure, feature lifecycle management system and toolings to enable scalable, high-quality fraud detection and machine learning systems for all product lines at Remitly. The team operates at the intersection of platform development and applied machine learning, ensuring tight alignment with business outcomes and fostering iterative improvements in platform adoption and performance.
You will lead the team in close collaboration with product squads and the Trust ML team to drive platform innovation and you will report to the EM Lead for Trust Platform.
You Will:
- Set the technical vision and roadmap for your engineering team and partner with engineers of other teams to set a broader technical vision
- Provide technical leadership and lead complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.
- Set a high bar for planning and execution, including quarterly objective definition, resource allocation, and re-prioritization when necessary
- Partner with product managers to understand requirements, translate these requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.
- You explain the options and tradeoffs between data quality, availability that related features, and quality across interdependent systems, and make sound technical decisions
- Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
- You will help set and hire against a high-engineering talent bar for the team
You Have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience building diverse and empowered teams
- Previous experience in building and maintaining offline and online data solutions to power data-driven decision
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data pipeline development, feature engineering, and machine learning tech stacks, such as Kafka/Kinesis, Spark, Sagemaker, and other relevant technologies
- Experience with distributed systems and micro-service architecture in production
- An engineering mindset that stays technically curious and engaged in innovation and encourages learning in the team.
- Thoughtful leadership with experience in hiring, coaching and retaining engineering talent with multiple needs for personal and professional growth.
Bonus
- Have experience in adversarial domains like Fraud, Trust, or Safety
- Have experience building and shipping ML feature stores, online and offline data pipelines
Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $194,000 -$242,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
