Who we are:

Shape a brighter financial future with us.

Together with our members, we’re changing the way people think about and interact with personal finance.

We’re a next-generation financial services company and national bank using innovative, mobile-first technology to help our millions of members reach their goals. The industry is going through an unprecedented transformation, and we’re at the forefront. We’re proud to come to work every day knowing that what we do has a direct impact on people’s lives, with our core values guiding us every step of the way. Join us to invest in yourself, your career, and the financial world.

The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to join SoFi’s Bank Platform organization — and to step in at a defining moment. You’ll own our Transaction Data Platform, the central transactional infrastructure hub, while working in close partnership with the Account Services team. This isn’t a steady-state role. It is a seat at the table for the most consequential technical transformation the company has undertaken in years.

Our Transaction Data Platform is the backbone of our banking infrastructure. It ingests, normalizes, and distributes transaction events from multiple banking cores to every major SoFi product — consumer banking, investing, credit, and the member experience. You’ll lead a focused squad anchored by senior engineers, driving real-time reconciliation streams (the critical path for our banking core modernization program), its account provider strategy, and a next-generation transaction enrichment framework. You’ll also maintain close architectural alignment with Account Services, which owns the unified financial data model and the account/transaction API surface. Cross-team coordination is not a footnote in this role — it is the role.

At SoFi, you’ll become part of a new kind of finance company whose ambition is to help our members achieve financial independence and reach their goals. We aim to be at the center of our members’ financial lives, and to help every member get their money right. From student loan refinancing, we expanded across loans, wealth management, and insurance — then built a full-featured bank, bringing members best-in-class checking and high-yield savings, and the tools to get their money right. SoFi has achieved significant growth, with ambitious plans ahead, but to continue this growth we need great talent. And that starts with you.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead the Transaction Platform engineering squad through the full development lifecycle, with direct accountability for banking core modernization — the company's most strategic technical program
  • Own the technical roadmap and execution for the Transaction Platform: real-time event replication pipelines, streaming transaction aggregation, reconciliation infrastructure, account provider integration, and a next-generation transaction enrichment framework
  • Establish a clear technical vision for the squad; guide and challenge senior architects, raise the engineering bar, and contribute to architecture and design decisions
  • Serve as the primary stakeholder interface for partner teams — consumer banking, investments, payments, core banking, and partner systems — ensuring alignment is proactive, dependencies are visible, and commitments are honored
  • Translate high-level OKRs into executable campaign and sprint objectives; drive structured planning cycles and hold the team accountable for well-specified, high-quality delivery
  • Identify and actively mitigate technical and delivery risk; exercise sound judgment on escalations and create focus and clarity for your team while maintaining full accountability
  • Grow the team — understand hiring needs, define assessment criteria, and build engineering depth capable of thriving in a high-ambiguity, high-impact environment
  • Define meaningful growth plans for each engineer on your team; invest consistently in coaching, performance feedback, and deliberate career development
  • Challenge the status quo, embrace innovation, and drive the next chapter of our banking infrastructure

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, mission-critical distributed systems
  • 4+ years of engineering management experience, including leading senior individual contributors and tech leads
  • Demonstrated platform-building expertise: you’ve built or scaled infrastructure serving multiple product teams
  • Strong technical depth — comfortable engaging at the level your senior engineers work: event-driven systems, streaming pipelines, API design, and complex data models
  • Proven record of cross-functional execution: aligning multiple teams on shared milestones, unblocking dependencies, and delivering in ambiguous environments
  • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineering talent; track record of raising the bar
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, get into the details, and hold yourself and the team to a high standard
  • Strong sense of ownership — you drive programs from inception through delivery

Nice to Haves:
  • Familiarity with banking domain systems, particularly banking cores (Thought Machine, Mambu, or similar cloud-native cores)
  • Hands-on experience with event streaming or real-time data infrastructure (Kinesis, Kafka, Apache Flink, or similar)
  • Exposure to core migration or large-scale platform modernization programs
  • Working knowledge of common financial data models, account/transaction APIs, or payment rails (ACH, Wire, etc.)
  • Experience in a regulated fintech or banking environment
  • Background in Kotlin/Java Spring Boot or similar JVM-based backend systems

What We Do

SoFi wasn’t built to be a bank. Or a technology company. We were built for one mission: help people achieve financial independence so they can realize their ambitions. Redefining an entire industry isn’t easy work—and it’s not for the faint of heart. It takes a certain kind of team. People with diverse perspectives and expertise, united by a common sense of purpose. People willing to challenge assumptions but always do the right thing. People proving that innovation and responsibility don’t have to compete, but can come together to create something truly unconventional in the world. For the last eight years, we’ve been charting this new path forward. We call it The SoFi Way. At SoFi, we don’t just talk about culture: we live it. The SoFi Way is how we show up every day, how we make decisions, and how we build for our members, clients, and each other.

Why Work With Us

Together with our members, we’re changing the way people think about and interact with personal finance. We’re a next-generation Fintech company using innovative, mobile-first technology to help our members reach their goals. The industry is going through an unprecedented transformation, and we’re at the forefront.
