Role Description

Next to some major technological changes Deutsche Bank has decided to step into the Agile software development methodology in order to improve its agility and reduce time to market without compromising with quality.
Here, the Release Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the software release across various projects. This role involves working closely with multiple teams, including development, QA, DevOps and operations, to ensure smooth and efficient release cycle. The release manager will be responsible for establishing release processes, maintaining the release calendar, coordinating with stakeholders and identifying and mitigating the risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of release lifecycle, various branching strategies, DevOps principles, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and experience in release planning, change management, presenting change in several CABs and managing complex release processes in agile environments.

Your key responsibilities
- Release Planning and Coordination
- Define and manage the release schedule and activities for multiple components/projects, ensuring timely and quality software delivery.
- Work with development, QA, operation and product teams to ensure seamless execution of release plan by adopting the best practices as per industry standard.
- Maintain a centralized release calendar, coordinating across teams to identify and resolve potential scheduling conflicts.
- Release Process Management
- Establish, documents and continuously improve release management processes, workflows and standards.
- Manage the lifecycle of the release, including planning, scheduling, coordinating and executing releases and driving CAB calls.
- Define the release acceptance criteria and ensure that all release requirements are met.
- Build and Deployment
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate release management into CI/CD pipelines.
- Need to understand build configurations, deployment process and automation process.
- Monitor deployment processes and address any issues during releases, ensuring rollbacks or hotfixes are executed when needed.
- Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with release activities.
- Implement roll back strategies and emergency release procedures to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
- Continuous Improvement and Reporting
- Analyze release metrics and identify areas for process improvement.
- Generate reports on release status, issues, risks, and performance for senior managements and stake holders.
Your skills and experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience in Release management, software development, DevOps, Agile methodology
- Proven experience in managing releases for complex, large-scale applications.
- Having prior experience in release planning, change management, presenting change in several CABs.
- Candidate should have a strong understanding of DevOps practices, CICD pipelines, version control tools, branching strategy and automated deployment tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platform (GCP is preferable) and containerization tools like docker or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Knowledge of build tools and scripting languages (Jenkin, bash, power shell, python) etc.
- Soft skills: Strong communication, organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and lead discussion on release process and improvements.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail in identifying risk and resolve issues.
