Engineer - Tooling
The role / impact
This role is about improving the reliability, usability, and integration of internal tools that empower our engineering teams. You will work heavily on the infrastructure powering these tools, with a dedicated focus on scalability, security, and driving automation to provide better governance across the organisation.
Your work directly influences developer productivity, with the goal of saving engineers significant time each week through streamlined processes. By designing robust architectures and implementing resilient solutions, you ensure our internal systems remain fault-tolerant and highly efficient.
The team / how they connect
You will join the Tooling Team, a distributed group of five across Melbourne, Sydney, and Wellington who focus on specific productivity OKRs. The team operates in a full hybrid setup, connecting through regular collaboration while enjoying the flexibility to work in a way that best suits their individual needs.
The team is currently working on
Implementing LaunchDarkly's Relay Proxy using Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS to increase infrastructure resiliency.
Integrating diverse data sources within DX by building utilities that ingest and transform data via AWS Lambda and .NET.
Enhancing CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions to support and build more efficient deployment workflows.
Supporting and integrating industry-standard tools like SonarQube, LaunchDarkly, and Playwright to improve the developer experience.
Where and how you can work
This role is available in either Melbourne or Sydney. We embrace a full hybrid setup where the team goes into the office every now and then, but ultimately we support whatever working style works best for you.
Here are some of the things we are looking for
You bring a solid understanding of C# and are comfortable working autonomously to set technical direction.
Your background includes deep expertise with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and deploying infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
Your background includes supporting or building CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions.
You possess a natural aptitude for automation and enjoy creating better governance through code.
You have a track record of clear documentation and can communicate effectively with stakeholders across engineering and leadership.
You might have some experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Powershell or Python.
Your perspective helps drive new tooling initiatives that solve complex engineering problems at scale.
