The CP4BA will drive delivery and operations for Canada Life’s Enterprise Content Management platform, built on IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation (CP4BA) and hosted on AWS using ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS), EC2 compute, DB2, and various automation components.

This role is accountable for the end-to-end ownership of ECM platform solutions—from architecture and design through development, deployment, support, and optimization. The ideal candidate is an allrounder who can operate as a Developer, Business Systems Analyst, Architect, Mentor, and Development Lead, ensuring the ECM platform is reliable, scalable, secure, and delivering business value.

The Sr Developer partners closely with business stakeholders, architects, cloud engineering, and product owners to evolve and modernize CP4BA capabilities. Success is measured by platform stability, development excellence, and the ability to deliver high quality automation and content solutions that align with enterprise priorities.

The role requires strong technical depth, exceptional analytical and problem solving capabilities, and proven leadership in fast paced, cloud-based environments.

Essential functions:

  • Technical Leadership & Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end technical design, development, deployment, and support of ECM/CP4BA solutions across Workflow, Business Automation Studio, Content Navigator, FileNet, and related components.

  • Design and implement scalable solutions leveraging ROSA (OpenShift), AWS services, EC2 compute patterns, DB2 data structures, and containerized workloads.

  • Translate business requirements into solution architectures, technical specifications, and development plans, acting as both architect and lead developer.

  • Lead platform upgrades, patching, automation improvements, and environment stabilization efforts.

  • Create, maintain, and optimize workflows, content models, document lifecycle rules, automation scripts, integrations, and APIs using CP4BA and FileNet capabilities.

  • Oversee DevOps pipelines, GitOps processes, CI/CD tooling, and operational automation for ROSA/OpenShift deployments.

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting for platform issues across application, infrastructure, and integration layers.

  • Ensure high-quality, reusable, performant code and strong engineering discipline.

  • Guide solution decisions and advise product owners, architects, and senior leaders on technical feasibility, risk, and strategic direction.

  • Stay current on CP4BA, OpenShift, AWS, and ECM industry best practices; introduce modernization opportunities including AI/GenAI enhancements.

  • Leadership & Delivery Management

  • Serve as the primary offshore leadership point of contact for onshore engineering, product, QA, and architecture teams.

  • Ensure seamless daily handoffs across time zones with clear communication, documentation, and progress updates.

  • Manage team allocation, sprint planning, workload distribution, and release readiness.

  • Provide proactive delivery oversight, addressing blockers, risks, dependencies, and escalations early.

  • Maintain strong alignment with business priorities, release timelines, security/compliance requirements, and operational SLAs.

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of developers and analysts, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and ensure adherence to architectural standards.

  • Collaborate with product managers, business partners, and enterprise architects to define scope, timelines, and priorities.

  • Communicate technical concepts and project status clearly and effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the ECM and automation teams.

  • Support operational excellence through incident management, root cause analysis, and prevention strategies.

  • Build strong relationships across technology teams (cloud, security, data, infra) to ensure stable, compliant, and optimized service delivery.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science.

  • Agile and waterfall project delivery is an asset.

Experience:

  • 6–10+ years of experience in enterprise technology roles including development, analysis, design, and solution delivery.
