Senior Engineer- Networking

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with Product Management to accept and refine requirements for new network inventory and monitoring enhancements

• Troubleshoot and mitigate MySQL and Python performance issues found in the Skylar One platform

• Take ownership of, including providing feedback, of how the product presents Network Topology to the end user in Skylar One

• Implement new feature work in Python, PHP, and MySQL, using accepted coding practices that product quality, maintainable software, including writing and maintaining unit tests

• Independently reach out and assist teammates in completing sprint work

Must Have Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 8+ years of software development experience in Python, including maintaining highly-scalable processes running in Python

• 6+ years using Linux

• 3+ years of MySQL experience, including analyzing queries for optimal performance

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals:

• TCP/IP, routing, switching

• VLANs, firewalls, load balancing

• DNS, DHCP, VPNs

• WAN, BGP, MPLS routing configuration

• Experience developing multi-threaded or multi-process software

• Familiarity with automation frameworks and scripting tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc)

• Basic working knowledge of SNMP and RESTful APIs

• Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices

Good To Have Qualifications:

• CCNA or CCNP certification

• Experience reviewing AI-produced code and designs, for accuracy

• Understanding of GitHub actions and Jenkins build workflows

• Experience working in Agile environments

• Experience working on backend Software Engineering teams with large datasets

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• AI-related software development lifecycle experience (AI DLC), as well as incorporating AI assistance in daily workflows

• Contributions to system architecture, ensuring high-availability and performance for system components

• Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
