Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Engineer – ML & Computer Vision to lead the development of next-generation machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI features.This role focuses on state-of-the-art solutions for advanced camera systems and robotic perception, including camera processing pipelines, image restoration, photo enhancement, 3D mapping, SLAM, sensor fusion, real-time processing, and deploying capabilities on edge computing platforms.
The engineer will join Samsung’s newly formed Camera Innovation R&D Team.
Role and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Research, design, and develop advanced computer vision (CV, ML, DL, GenAI) algorithms for camera systems and photo enhancement features.
Develop image and video processing, object recognition, and scene understanding algorithms to drive innovation in camera performance.
Research, design, and implement real-time robotic perception pipelines for unstructured environments.
Develop and integrate SLAM, visual odometry, object detection, segmentation, and 3D mapping algorithms using multi-sensor fusion (RGB-D, IMU, LiDAR, etc.).
Optimize perception and ML models for embedded and edge platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson) to meet real-time constraints.
Drive adoption of emerging technologies such as Gaussian Splatting, 3D occupancy mapping, and LLM-based reasoning.
Validate performance through simulation (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity) and real-world testing.
Manage the full lifecycle of ML/DL projects, from research and prototyping to deployment, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Samsung to integrate ML/DL algorithms into hardware and software platforms.
Stay at the forefront of developments in machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning, and guide the adoption of emerging technologies to elevate Samsung’s camera solutions.
Apply parameter-efficient optimization and advanced ML techniques for high-performance inference in constrained environments.
Contribute to technology roadmaps and R&D investment decisions to ensure long-term success in camera technologies.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications:
MSc or PhD in Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience with at least one of the following:
SLAM, sensor fusion, 3D scene understanding, and embedded AI deployment.
ML/DL-based image processing or video analysis (e.g., image restoration, depth maps).
Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with expertise in ROS/ROS2, PyTorch, and OpenCV.
Experience with edge computing platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson) and real-time system optimization.
8+ years of experience in ML, DL, CV, or related fields, with a proven track record of developing solutions from research to production.
Extensive hands-on experience in developing and deploying ML/DL-based software applications for camera systems, image processing, or video analysis.
Strong applied software engineering skills, with experience in agile methodologies and quality-driven development.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
Preferred: Experience with large language models (LLMs) and applying advanced optimization techniques.
