Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in industrial facility design across sectors such semiconductor manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and process infrastructure within large-scale semiconductor industrial projects. This role requires strong proficiency in review, space management, engineering calculations review, and technical coordination to ensure efficient, sustainable, and compliant mechanical designs and on time project completion. Must be able to leverage AI in day to day activities.
Key Responsibilities:• Review detailed mechanical designs, equipment layouts, and technical drawings for cleanroom HVAC systems, CDA. Exhaust systems involving General exhaust, Acid, Ammonia, Solvent exhaust, UPW, DI, PCW, piping systems, HVAC, and utility distribution.• Review 3D models, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics.• Preparation & Review of Material Specification for Chillers, AHUs, fans, piping, pumps, valves, compressors, and heat exchangers for various industrial applications.• Ensure proper sizing, pressure drop analysis, and flow rate calculations for mechanical pipelines and equipment.• Review mechanical infrastructure for critical plant operations, including compressed air, steam, vacuum, and cooling water systems.• Review of pipe stress analysis and dynamic simulations to ensure system integrity under operational loads.• Ensure proper foundation design, vibration analysis, and mechanical support structures for large-scale equipment.• Review equipment installation and maintenance guidelines to enhance plant reliability.• Conversant with software like AutoCAD, Navisworks etc• Conduct clash detection and coordination with structural, electrical, and process engineering teams.• Review of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for HVAC pressure, velocity, flow compliance for semiconductor cleanrooms.• Implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies to optimize mechanical system coordination.• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, ISO 14644, IS Standards, NFPA, ISO, and local construction regulations.• Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into mechanical system designs, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Project Coordination & Execution:• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless execution of mechanical designs.• Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting during project execution.• Develop engineering reports, design justifications, and procurement specifications for mechanical components.
Required Technical Skills:• Expertise in use of AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360 for review.• Strong knowledge of Semiconductor Front & Backend facilities• Expertise in various cleanroom class design involving ISO 3 TO ISO 8• Expertise in semiconductor mechanical utilities review, design, selection
* Expertise in green & brown field semiconductor plant design & detailing• Experience in clash detection and 3D model coordination using Navisworks or similar tools.• Must have good hands-on AI proficiency in using Gen-AI tools such as Co-Pilot, Chat GPT, Claude or LLMs
Qualifications & Experience:• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.• 08-12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering for pharmaceuticals, or semiconductor manufacturing.• Proven experience in cleanroom HVAC, Semiconductor exhaust systems & mechanical utilities (Compressor, Chiller, Process Vacuum, UPW)• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and cross-disciplinary coordination.• Strong communication, contractor & vendor management skills• Must have work experience of working/designing for any of the front or back-end semiconductor facilities.
Preferred Certifications:• ASHRAE /SEMI Membership• LEED AP / WELL AP Certification for sustainable design.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8-12 years experience in mechanical design engineering for semiconductor or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Proven experience in cleanroom HVAC, semiconductor exhaust systems, and mechanical utilities (compressor, chiller, process vacuum, UPW)

  • Experience in foundation design, vibration analysis, and mechanical supports for large equipment
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, IS standards, SEMI, and local construction regulations
  • Hands-on proficiency using generative AI/LLM tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) in day-to-day engineering activities
  • Strong communication, contractor and vendor management skills; ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Experience designing for front-end or back-end semiconductor facilities (greenfield and brownfield)
