Job Description
As part of the Back Office development team, this Senior HP NonStop Engineer will analyze business requirements, problems, and deliver quality technical solutions. This team is responsible for application development, modification, maintenance, and support for the IT Back Office. This individual will be actively involved in highly critical back-office applications that involve Corporate Actions, Trade Clearance and Securities Transfer. This individual will also be involved in portions of the full systems life cycle (based on experience/skills) and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Handles complex back-end systems independently and demonstrates analytical thinking.
Responsibilities:
Develop existing applications and contribute to development of new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Develop new routine applications to meet customer requirements.
Leverage AI platforms for documentation, test automation, support and respond to user It and business stakeholders.
Monitor batch jobs, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
Monitor, identify, and correct software defects and find creative ways, comfortable to work in a dynamic environment to maintain fully functioning applications software.
Teamwork and collaboration with various stake holders are highly expected.
May lead assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
May recommend new technologies and methodologies to management with both tactical and strategic methods to meet business needs, resolving problems and exploiting opportunities. Remains current with new technologies.
Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions.
Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
Participates in software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Provides technical advice and assists in solving programming problems.
Writes and/or reviews system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
Create and maintain technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.
Ensures proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
Clarity in communication clearly conveys information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
Demonstrate good technical and professional skills or knowledge in position-related areas; remains current with developments and trends in areas of expertise.
Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
Consistently integrate AI-based tools into daily workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Previous Experience:
More than five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience is highly preferred.
Experience in HP NonStop COBOL85, HPNS SQL/MX and SQL/MP.
Experience in Pathway servers and configuration.
Experience working on HP NonStop/Tandem Guardian OS application development.
Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
Experience working with batch job processing, handling large date volume is required.
Experience working in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid software development methodologies. Experience with brokerage and clearing business/industry is nice to have.
Experience with Middle Office and Back Office domains is a strong plus.
Experience with messaging platforms (e.g., MQ) is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Experience working in remote and globally distributed business environments, employing a variety of in-person and remote collaboration tools, including email, phone, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Azure-DevOps, etc.
May occasionally work a non-standard shift including nights and/or weekends and/or have on-call responsibilities. On-call rotation (once every 5-6 weeks).
