Senior Engineer, Electronics & Embedded Systems – R&D

OUR ROLE

We are looking for a talented Senior Engineer, Electronics & Embedded Systems to join Fiskars R&D team. This is a senior technical contributor role for an engineer with hands-on experience in electronics and embedded product development, ideally within consumer electronics, battery-powered devices or electromechanical products.

Your mission? To turn innovative ideas into reliable, manufacturable, and consumer-focused products by developing electronic hardware and embedded software solutions that deliver outstanding performance and user experience.

You will play a key role in New Product Development projects, working closely with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, suppliers and manufacturing partners to bring new products from concept to production.

Your work will directly contribute to the success of Fiskars' growing portfolio of battery-powered tools by ensuring robust electronics, reliable embedded software and seamless system integration. The role combines technical depth with practical execution and offers opportunities to influence product architecture, validation and continuous improvement.

This position is based either in Espoo or Billnäs factory, Finland, and reports to our Senior Manager, R&D. The role is full-time and hybrid.

Candidates based in the EU who are eligible to work in the EU are welcome to apply—relocation support to Finland will be provided where needed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FISKARS GROUP

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electronic hardware and embedded firmware for battery-powered consumer products.

  • Design, test, validate, and troubleshoot electronic systems from concept through production.

  • Participate in system architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.

  • Create schematics, support PCB design activities, and participate in design reviews.

  • Develop and debug embedded software, drivers, and application-level functionality.

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, product managers, and suppliers to ensure successful product integration.

  • Execute verification and validation activities, ensuring compliance, reliability, and product performance.

  • Support manufacturing, supplier qualification, certification, and product launch activities.

  • Contribute to root-cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives for existing products.

  • Stay up to date with developments in electronics, battery technologies, embedded systems, connectivity, and smart products.

WHO YOU ARE

Experience:

  • MSc/BSc degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field.

  • More than 3 years in electronics and embedded product development, preferably involving battery-powered products.

  • Proven track record in developing consumer products, battery-powered devices, IoT solutions or comparable electromechanical systems.

  • Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, communication protocols, debugging methods and hardware bring-up activities.

  • Hands-on experience with schematic design, PCB development, prototype validation and laboratory testing.

  • Practical embedded software development expertise, including firmware design and debugging.

  • Good understanding of EMC, product safety, reliability and design-for-manufacturing principles.

  • Knowledge of battery management systems, motor control, or power electronics is considered a strong advantage.

  • Familiarity with battery management systems or motor control is considered an advantage.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English.
