Role description:
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
  • Providing technical advice to project team members
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance in the components of the project for which are responsible, including drawings, reports, specifications and studies
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients on projects 
  • Liaising with the Project Director or Manager and the client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project
  • Assisting in developing team members to their full potential 
  • Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager.

Key Duties & Skills: 
Knowledge of code & standards and practices related to water industry.  

  • Proven design experience; including concept, preliminary, detailed, construction phases
  • Has thorough technical knowledge of
    • Lighting calculations and design 
    • Low voltage power distribution 
    • Earthing and bonding systems 
    • Cable systems and containment 
    • Lightning Protection system design
    • Cable sizing and short circuit calculations 
    • Uninterrupted power supplies
    • Interfaces engineering to PLC/SCADA system
    • Conversant with ETAP, SKM Tool,  DIALUX software’s. Should be able to carry out following studies independently 
      • Cable sizing calculations
      • Voltage drop calculations
      • Short circuit studies
      • Arc Flash studies
      • Relay coordination and Discrimination studies
      • Earthing and bonding 
      • Lighting design.
    • Preparation and checking of technical specifications, design basis reports,   etc. 
    • Has good appreciation of Health, safety and environmental aspects.
    • Ability to carry out design reviews independently.
    • Familiar with American standards, NFPA, IEEE and IEC standards related to Water Industry.
    • Experience within a consultancy environment specifically extended office of lead business.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language, with good report writing, analytical and computer skills.
    • Ability to think in an innovative manner
    • Knowledge of commercial aspects of projects

Qualification & Experience: 

  • B.E / B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University. 
  • 10 to 15 Years’ experience in design of Electrical systems associated with Water industry.
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance in the components of the project for which responsible, including drawings, reports, specifications and studies
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients on projects

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  • 10 to 15 years of experience designing electrical systems associated with the water industry
  • Proven electrical design experience through concept, preliminary, detailed, and construction phases
  • Thorough knowledge of lighting design, low-voltage power distribution, earthing and bonding, cable systems, lightning protection, cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, UPS, and PLC/SCADA interfaces
  • Experience independently performing cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, arc flash, relay coordination, earthing, bonding, and lighting studies
  • Proficiency with ETAP, SKM Tool, and DIALux
  • Familiarity with American standards, NFPA, IEEE, and IEC standards related to the water industry
  • Experience in a consultancy environment, specifically an extended office of a lead business
  • Strong English verbal and written communication, report writing, analytical, and computer skills
  • Ability to conduct independent design reviews
  • Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and commercial project aspects
  • Ability to provide technical advice, coordinate across design disciplines, manage project components, and support team development
