Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Data Science team at Marsh. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office
We will count on you to have the following skills and experience:
Data Science:
- Assembling large, complex sets of data Identifying, implementing internal process improvements including optimizing data delivery and automating manual processes
- Expert in building data science models using techniques like Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Cluster analysis, Tree Classification etc.
- Ability to leverage AI/Chat GPT and machine learning techniques to build analytical solutions for UK & I Placement
- Develop a strong understanding of the UK & I placement process to come up with advanced analysis and ways to optimize the business
Data Structure Understanding:
- Strong grasp of data modeling concepts and principles.
- Understanding and working with complex data structures.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
- Ability to tackle complex data problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify patterns, trends, and insights in large datasets.
- Capacity to troubleshoot data issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Deep understanding of the program structure and calculations around the rate changes, deductibles, limits and market participation in Placement
Soft Skills:
- Understanding requirements, excellent communication skills and stakeholder management are crucial skills.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering discipline
- Data skills - Advanced formulae, advanced pivot tables, selecting and creating charts etc. to enable analysis of data in Excel, SQL/Oracle for data extraction from EDWH
- Strong coding skills in R or Python, ability to improve and optimize models using statistical parameters
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate and partner with stakeholders
- Ability to understand business objectives and make sure any analysis and findings are aligned to those business objectives
- Keenness and urgency to learn about the Marsh and the business unit’s business, and insurance industry in general

- Understanding of insurance industry terminology, data models, and business processes.
- Knowledge of insurance-specific data requirements, such as policy information, claims data, underwriting data, etc.
- Ability to examine data critically and identify analyses and synthesize trends out of them
