The Senior Eng I, Product Development Engineer, Automatic Testing develops, maintains, and executes automated test solutions that accelerate product development and improve product quality. The role is responsible for designing robust automation frameworks and test scripts, analyzing test results, troubleshooting failures, supporting product verification activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with product requirements, risk mitigations, and regulatory standards. The Senior Eng I serves as a technical contributor who provides guidance to less experienced engineers while driving continuous improvements in automation capabilities and test efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and Program Automatic Testing Solutions

  • Analyze and interpret product, system, and software requirements.
  • Design automated test solutions that verify functional, performance, and system-level requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve automated test scripts and supporting automation frameworks.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews for automation solutions.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with software development best practices.
  • Create and maintain automation-related documentation.
  • Contribute to automation strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

Execute Automated Tests and Analyze Results

  • Execute automated test suites and evaluate test outcomes.
  • Investigate test failures and differentiate between product defects, environmental issues, and script-related problems.
  • Document and communicate defects using the Defect Management System.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality, and Product Management teams to resolve issues.
  • Provide meaningful analysis and recommendations based on test results and trends.

Verification and Validation Activities

  • Develop and maintain test cases, protocols, and automated verification procedures.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, risks, and verification activities.
  • Support design verification and validation efforts.
  • Execute manual testing when automation is not feasible or practical.
  • Review requirements and test coverage for completeness and quality.

Technical Leadership and Process Improvement

  • Mentor and support Engineer I and Engineer II team members.
  • Promote automation best practices and coding standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, coverage, and maintainability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities within the development lifecycle.

General

  • Communicates business related issues and opportunities with management
  • Follows all applicable procedures, policies and guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with quality system and regulatory requirements
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information System or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, Test Engineer, or related technical role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test solutions.
  • Experience working in regulated industries, preferably medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences.
  • Experience throughout the product development lifecycle, including verification and validation activities.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments is an advantage.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong experience with object-oriented programming (C# preferred).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ranorex or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience developing automated testing solutions and frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and verification principles.
  • Understanding of requirements management, defect tracking, configuration management, and software V&V processes.
  • Experience writing test cases, protocols, and traceability documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root causes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • ISTQB certification is an advantage.
