Job Description:

Are you proficient in the C language, do you know it takes to build large and reliable systems in C and do you have the guts to design and implement SW which will be used in safety critical systems?  If so, then you may be the candidate we are looking for.

We are looking for experienced developers but will also consider strong new college graduates to join a team of 6 SW developers working on the full SW stack for Ethernet switches used in the automotive industry. Both Switch SoC’s, PHYs and the evaluation boards are designed by Microchip, and most of it has been done by people in the same building. The SW environment is heavily influenced by constrained HW/SW resources, very fast boot requirements and SW process and regulation standards such as ASPICE/ISO26262/MISRA/IEC62443. The SW product we deliver includes everything from the first stage bootloader, operating system, configuration management and L2 switch protocols running on the embedded CPU.

You will be doing most of your work in the application layer of the SW stack doing management interfaces and/or protocol support. The primary task will be all aspects of SW development (requirements, specifications, implementations, tests etc), but the position is not limited to that. Maybe you have a desire to become a team lead, coach less experienced colleagues, participate in the process development, drive standardization work, or have other skills needed in the team.

Microchip Denmark has an R&D site located in Herlev. We are a team of 35 engineers, developing Ethernet network switches for Enterprise, Industrial and automotive markets. The Denmark site represents all the engineering disciplines from initial product definition, RTL design, SW development, reference systems and technical support. Microchip Denmark is part of Microchip USB and Networking Group (UNG), which have sites in USA, India, Taiwan, and China.
 

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education and Qualifications:
•    Proficient in C, and a desire to work with embedded SW.
•    SW Requirement specification, including gathering input from standards, customers, and system engineering.
•    Being comfortable in working individually for periods of time while researching or developing new material
•    Being a good team player and able to work with other colleagues when needed/preferred.
•    Good English communication skills – written as well as oral.
•    A plus if you have experience with: Ethernet, CoAP, NETCONF/YANG, PTP, SW security technologies, GIT, MISRA, ASPICE, Functional safety standards, working with standardization bodies.
