Requirements

Duties:

  • Hero DMP: Deliver key environment and set extension matte paintings for high-visibility shots
  • Multi-Camera Support: Build setups that work across shot continuity and stereo if required
  • Projection Work: Set up and troubleshoot 2.5D projections in Nuke or Maya
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure DMPs are resolution-safe and pipeline-compatible
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Align with layout, lighting, and comp to resolve projection and placement issues
  • Mentorship: Provide support and review feedback for mid and junior artists. Support the team in elevating both output and efficiency.
  • Scene Organisation: Maintain clear structure in layers, geometry, and projections
  • Feedback: Address notes efficiently and offer improvements during shot development
  • Deliver high-quality matte paintings that hold up across lighting and comp
  • Lead by example in artistic and technical execution
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and best practices

Skills, attributes and experience:

  • Expert in Photoshop, Nuke, Maya, and projection workflows
  • Strong artistic judgment in composition, lighting, and photorealism
  • Experience with lidar, scan data, and integrating CG or FX passes
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to scale, tiling, and re-projection
  • Familiarity with USD scene assembly or layout
  • Scripting or tool feedback ability (e.g., Nuke gizmos, camera rig setups)
  • Understanding of stereo or multi-view DMP challenges
  • Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening 
  • Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
  • Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude 
  • Driven to make things better with flexibility to change course when needed 
  • Positive energy, focusing on results and having a positive impact on those around you
  • Self awareness and an ability to resolve and diffuse problems treating others with kindness and respect
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well with others
  • 6–8 years in VFX or a related field

Skills Required

  • 6-8 years of experience in VFX or a related field
  • Expert proficiency in Photoshop, Nuke, Maya, and projection workflows
  • Strong artistic judgment in composition, lighting, and photorealism
  • Experience with lidar, scan data, and integrating CG or FX passes
  • Ability to troubleshoot scale, tiling, and re-projection issues
  • Familiarity with USD scene assembly or layout
  • Scripting or tool feedback experience, such as Nuke gizmos or camera rig setups
  • Understanding of stereo or multi-view digital matte painting challenges
  • Strong communication, collaboration, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to mentor and review mid-level and junior artists
  • Ability to meet deadlines and escalate delays promptly
  • Adaptability, self-awareness, positive attitude, and ability to resolve problems respectfully
