Company Description

The Senior Director of Test & Product Engineering leads the strategy and execution of test and product engineering for power semiconductor modules, power ICs, and controllers supporting data center and high-performance applications. This role owns end-to-end product execution across characterization, qualification, yield ramp, test development, and high-volume manufacturing. The leader ensures delivery of scalable, cost-competitive, and high-quality products through strong cross-functional alignment with Design, Product Line, Quality, Reliability, and Operations.

Job Description

  • The role defines and executes a unified strategy across test and product engineering while leading global teams and establishing scalable processes for new product introduction, yield ramp, and sustaining operations. It requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution to drive predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
  • From a product engineering perspective, this leader owns the full product lifecycle, including silicon bring-up, qualification, ramp, and sustaining. Responsibilities include driving yield ramp and improvement, managing excursions, and optimizing product cost through yield, test efficiency, and manufacturing performance. The role ensures manufacturing readiness, production stability, and resolution of yield issues across fab, assembly, and test. It also owns product KPIs, manages change control processes (ECO/PCN), and partners with design teams on design-for-yield, parametric margining, and specification alignment.
  • From a test engineering standpoint, the role leads development and deployment of wafer sort, final test, and characterization solutions, ensuring strong test coverage while optimizing cost and efficiency. Responsibilities include driving test time reduction, multisite efficiency, and ATE platform standardization to enable scalable high-volume manufacturing.
  • The leader is accountable for resolving yield excursions, test escapes, and customer returns while partnering with Quality and Reliability teams to ensure robust qualification and mission-profile alignment. This includes establishing monitoring systems and controls to proactively manage risk and maintain alignment between product performance, test limits, and reliability targets.
  • The role works closely with Operations and manufacturing partners to ensure production readiness, capacity alignment, and continuous improvement across internal and OSAT sites. Strong cross-functional collaboration is required to align with Design, Product Line, and Applications teams on methodologies, cost targets, and customer requirements.
  • From a business standpoint, the Senior Director owns budget, headcount, and capital planning, while driving performance against key metrics such as yield, cost, quality, and cycle time. The role is also responsible for building a strong organization through hiring, development, and succession planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred) with 15+ years of semiconductor experience across test and/or product engineering, including leadership of global teams. Strong technical background in power semiconductors (Si, SiC, GaN, modules, or power ICs) and a proven track record in yield ramp, cost optimization, and high-volume manufacturing execution are required. Deep understanding of ATE, characterization, and yield analysis, along with experience driving cross-functional execution across the full product lifecycle, is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data center power architectures (AC-DC, DC-DC) and familiarity with power module packaging, thermal behavior, and high-current test methods are preferred. Additional strengths include statistical yield analysis, reliability and qualification methodologies, and experience with test automation and data analytics in manufacturing environments.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Success in this role is measured by yield performance and improvement, cost of test reduction, product cost competitiveness, execution of NPI and ramp schedules, product quality and reliability, and improvements in cycle time and manufacturing efficiency.

What Success Looks Like

  • Success is defined by consistent product ramps with strong yield, quality, and cost performance, supported by predictable execution from development through production. The organization demonstrates rapid resolution of yield and quality issues and is recognized as a key driver of product competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
