A little bit about our team:
WMG Finance is a global finance organization designed to partner and execute growth, fuel & accelerate artist/songwriter deal making, and provide timely and accurate financial data, to ensure sound financial decisions and execute on our strategic goals. We expect financial discipline, accuracy and completeness of financial statements and monitoring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. In addition, the finance department is responsible for ensuring that internal control policies are adequate and implemented.
Your role:
The Senior Director will lead the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local tax filings while overseeing global tax provision calculations under ASC 740. This high-impact leadership role involves managing a mix of internal staff and third-party providers to ensure technical accuracy, process efficiency, and strategic tax planning.

Tax Compliance & Advisory
Compliance Oversight: Manage the preparation and lead the final review for all U.S. federal, state, and local corporate and partnership tax returns.
Technical Advisory: Serve as a subject matter expert on complex corporate and partnership tax issues, including structuring, consolidated return rules, and transaction implications.
Audit Management: Direct Federal, state, and local tax audits, serving as a primary point of contact for auditors and external consultants.
Legislative Monitoring: Provide actionable guidance on the compliance and accounting impacts of new tax laws, regulations, and proposed legislation.
Tax Accounting & Reporting (ASC 740)
Provision Management: Lead the quarterly and year-end tax provision process, ensuring accurate financial statement disclosures and treatment of multi-dimensional issues.
Audit Interface: Act as the primary liaison for the external audit firm regarding tax accounting matters.
Forecasting: Produce critical forecasts for global income tax expense, cash taxes, and effective tax rates (ETR) to support corporate budgeting.
Strategic Planning & Process Improvement
Process Transformation: Lead initiatives to automate and re-engineer global tax provision and U.S. compliance workflows to increase efficiency.
M&A Support: Provide guidance on the tax implications of business acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations, including due diligence and international tax projects.
Value Creation: Identify and implement domestic planning projects to optimize cash taxes and global effective tax rate.
Leadership & Collaboration
Team Development: Manage and mentor direct and indirect reports to foster professional growth.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with the Corporate Controllers’ group and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless financial reporting.
About you:
Undergraduate degree required; CPA certification is mandatory.
10–15 years of tax experience, including time at both a major U.S. accounting firm and a U.S.-based multinational corporation.
Deep, hands-on experience preparing global tax provisions under ASC 740.
Experience with HFM, SAP/S4, and OneSource Tax Provision.
Ability to translate highly complex tax issues into clear, actionable communications.
Strong leadership skills with a results-oriented approach and a sense of urgency.
