The Role

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Sports Marketing Athlete Integration team is responsible for ensuring our athletes are integrated into all facets of NIKE, Inc., driving value for both the athlete and for Nike.  This role is responsible for developing a holistic strategy for our Sports Marketing Athlete portfolio, through a tiered approach.  It requires strategic visioning and cross-functional collaboration to redefine how we integrate athletes into all areas of the business, ultimately driving value for our Athletes and results for Nike.  This role will manage a team of Tier 1 and Sport Category focused Athlete Integration teammates who will obsess the Integration journeys of Nike’s top-tier athletes through relationship-building and Athlete connection back to critical Nike functional partners.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate must be able to lead a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to influence multiple internal and external stakeholders to create new capabilities and new ways of working. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent education. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
  • 10+ years’ successful experience navigating a complex matrix and building key relationships to achieve business results. 
  • 10+ years' account/project management and internal/external relationship management experience, including 6-8 years in a managerial position, preferably in the Sports industry.
  • History of success leading highly functioning teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including meeting facilitation and presentations.  Proficiency in Keynote, Excel, and MS Office applications.   
  • Ability to understand complex business scenarios, find creative ways to solve problems, and make sound decisions for the benefit of Sports Marketing and Nike.
  • Ability to develop and maintain fair and honest relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workloads, negotiate, and to persuade and influence people to take desired actions.
  • Ability to manage high profile communication and athlete relationships.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will work closely with the Sports Marketing Sport Categories, Athlete Services team, and Moments team, and cross-functionally to integrate our Athletes into all facets of Nike, including product, innovation, design, brand, purpose, entertainment marketing, and comms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide long-term visioning and strategic thought partnership alongside cross-functional partners to develop a strategic, long-term Athlete Integration offense for Nike’s top-tier Global athletes.
  • Manage a team and budget that will deliver the overall Sports Marketing Athlete Integration offense, aligning vision, strategy and plans for top-tier athletes to help enhance our contractual rights, to strengthen our connection with the consumer, and to fuel business growth.
  • Ensure our athletes are an integral part of the product creation process, creating a 360 degree feedback loop to help drive innovation and product excellence.
  • Partner with the Sports Marketing Athlete Services team and the Sport Categories to create a strategy for comprehensive athlete plans, inclusive of both Athlete Integration and Athlete Service opportunities.
  • Proactively and strategically align our top-tier athletes against Nike’s purpose offense – people, planet, play.
  • Lead a high-performing team of individuals who have deep knowledge and relationships within their respective Sport Categories.  Motivate them to develop meaningful partnerships with teammates both within Sports Marketing and cross-functionally, allowing us to put the athlete at the center and show up as one unified support team.
