Global Public Policy Department

Vantage’s Global Public Policy team, a part of the Vantage Data Centers Legal organization, is responsible for the company’s government relations, economic development, and community engagement efforts worldwide. We believe the world needs more digital infrastructure to create a better future with opportunities for all. We strive every day to lead in the creation and maintenance of a public policy environment where reliable, flexible, secure, and sustainable data centers are encouraged. We want to be welcomed by the communities where we operate and to be seen as responsible actors. We do so by approaching the challenges and opportunities before us, head on, with an outward mindset, living our Core Values, creatively solving problems, and following through on our commitments. We also endeavor for excellence in our work, continuously improving upon our efforts as we seek to become the best possible public policy team for our company and the world.

Role Overview

The Senior Director, Public Policy, APAC is the leader responsible for shaping and executing Vantage’s public policy strategy, including government and regulatory affairs, economic development, and community engagement, across the Asia Pacific region. As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, so does public and regulatory scrutiny. Vantage is committed to being a trusted partner to governments and communities in the geographies where it operates and to advancing thoughtful policies that enable responsible, sustainable growth of digital infrastructure to benefit the entire APAC region. The Senior Director will lead a team, engage directly, and through third parties, including consultants and trade associations, to advocate for Vantage positions and for pro-investment policies on topics such as energy, taxes, trade, and data sovereignty, among others.

This role is designed for an experienced, thoughtful policy leader who can operate with significant autonomy in a high-growth business within a complex regulatory environment while remaining aligned to a global public policy strategy and operating fully compliant with relevant laws and company policies. The Senior Director will also build and lead a team of regional and functional public policy professionals dedicated to and responsible for engagement in Vantage’s APAC and regional HQ markets—including Australia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, with additional markets expected to come over time.

The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated experience successfully navigating complex regulatory environments, managing political and reputational risk, and helping position their previous organizations as credible, solutionsoriented participants in public policy discussions with governments and other important stakeholders, especially on issues related to energy, sustainability, land use, data governance, and digital infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions

  • Define and execute a cohesive APAC public policy strategy aligned with Vantage’s business objectives and global public policy strategy across the asset lifecycle.

  • Anticipate and assess emerging political, regulatory, and reputational risks, translating them into clear priorities and action plans.

  • Serve as a trusted policy advisor to Vantage APAC’s executive leadership, providing clear, actionable, and candid counsel on complex policy tradeoffs.

  • Ensure consistent positioning across government and public engagements.

  • Build, lead, and retain a highperforming public policy team with clear roles, expectations, and accountability.

  • Set a leadership standard that emphasizes bias for action, ownership, good judgment, delivery of results, followthrough, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Establish operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and performance metrics that enable the team to scale effectively and with accountability.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead engagement with government officials, regulators, economic developers, and communities in key Vantage APAC markets.

  • Guide engagement with trade associations, coalitions, and thirdparty advocates to ensure alignment with Vantage priorities.

  • Represent Vantage as a credible, constructive, and solutionsoriented partner in relevant policy discussions affecting digital infrastructure issues.

  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders across Legal; Business Development; New Site Development; Construction; Marketing; Sustainability; Environment, Health, and Safety; Finance; Operations; Product; other departments as needed; and the APAC Leadership Team.

  • Work in collaboration with relevant teams to shape, align, and execute external narratives related to public policy, sustainability, and development — ensuring consistency across government, media, community, and customer audiences.

  • Ensure public policy considerations are integrated early into go-to-market, site selection, energy procurement, sustainability, communications, design, security, and community engagement strategies.

  • Become familiar with and operate in compliance with relevant anti-corruption and anti-collusion laws, and establish frameworks to ensure compliance with these laws for Vantage’s public policy activities in APAC.

  • Model and reinforce Vantage’s values of trust, accountability, respect, and agility.

  • Translate policy developments into clear implications and actions for business teams.

  • Foster a team culture that balances urgency with judgment, and advocacy with credibility.

  • Support responsible growth by aligning policy engagement with community expectations and sustainability goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; graduate degree or equivalent preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in public policy, especially corporate government relations, in Asia-Pacific and across multiple markets. Familiarity with digital infrastructure issues, especially energy and land use, preferred.

  • Demonstrated success leading and scaling high-performance teams, including managing and developing professionals and delivering results

  • Reputation as a trusted, credible, humble, and principled professional and team leader.

  • Proven ability to set and implement successful advocacy strategies, prioritize effectively, and drive execution through others across different regional and functional areas.

  • Deep experience engaging directly with policymakers at all levels of government across Asia Pacific.

  • Background in capital-intensive, regulated, or infrastructure-heavy sectors such as energy, technology, telecom, real estate, and transportation. Preferred experience operating in high-growth or rapidly-scaling organizations.

  • Strong understanding of legislative, regulatory, and stakeholder processes in Asia-Pacific.

  • Experience in managing budgets and relationships with third parties including consultants and trade associations.

  • Fluency in English with exceptional written and verbal communications skills, including briefing executives, policymakers, and public speaking. Media training and interview experience, and fluency in another language used predominately in Asia-Pacific, is preferred.

  • High degree of political acumen, calculated risk taking, and sound judgment required.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage risk, and make timely and good ethical decisions under pressure independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable with international travel to attend various internal and external meetings as required.

We operate with No Ego and No Arrogance. We work to build each other up and support one another, appreciating each other’s strengths and respecting each other’s weaknesses.
