Docker helps developers bring their ideas to reality by conquering the complexity of app development.
The Role
Leads Docker’s product organization and full product lifecycle across a growing developer-tooling portfolio. Responsibilities include hiring and developing product managers, establishing product vision and strategy, setting multi-team priorities, driving product-market fit and metrics, validating customer needs, managing roadmaps and OKRs, and fostering developer, partner, and customer ecosystems. The role operates in a fast-growth, remote-first environment and may represent Docker with customers, analysts, press, and industry events.

About Docker

Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world's largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.
We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.

Docker is looking for a Product leader for our growing suite of offerings. With millions of active developers globally this is a rare career defining opportunity to transform an industry. Docker’s products help developers to bring their ideas to life by delivering a magical experience simplifying and accelerating the complexities of building and shipping applications. This leader is responsible for managing the entire product lifecycle and leading a cross-functional team to define, prioritize and bring to market winning products that delight developers and dev teams.

If you love 1 to 10 scaling projects, dynamic environments with lots of opportunity to shape process and standardize, we want to talk with you. You can help write the next gen case study on world class PLG. This is a unique opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of millions of developers in a way that truly simplifies how cloud-native application development is done.

Responsibilities:
  • Hire, develop, and retain the best product team of your entire career

  • Deliver results for our customer and our business working across teams to deliver ongoing successful product market fit

  • Facilitate alignment on a compelling product vision and strategy with customers and market opportunities top of mind

  • Set clear multi-team priorities and shape focus for the team to the benefit of our customer and our financial results

  • Drive team metrics that help determine if we are making real progress well ahead of “grow ARR”

  • Foster rapid learning cycles on the team (and foster an aversion for “build it and they will come”)

  • Help products have a healthy ecosystem in which to thrive (developers, partners, customers, and online communities)

  • Bonus: serve as product spokesperson with customers, partners, press, analysts, and events

Qualifications
  • You have a favorite CLI, thoughts on how Docker could approve, and an opinion about pros and cons for various SDLC approaches

  • Evidence of many years of hands on product management across multiple product stages hopefully including some wisdom from prior efforts adding #2 to n products or SKUs

  • Foster a mindset of 10x rather than 10% thinking

  • Enjoy engagement with customers and users and iterating on ways to validate we are building what they need (not just what they say) before engineering work is complete

  • Operate from a presence over pretense mindset - humbly confident is a Docker virtue and you know from your experiences that influence matters more than authority (egos need not apply - you know who you are)

  • Comfortable in a remote 1st company across ~8 timezones - really this means you are great at writing or other methods of reinforcing information sharing without literally being “at the front of the room”

  • Possess a growth mindset and demonstrate where you have learned new customers, markets and business models quickly - bonus only: you already have experience in dev tools, SaaS, cloud service and/or open source freemium models

  • Love for and success in a fast-growth scale up environment characterized by controlled chaos (sometimes described as: lack of resources, imperfect information, quickly-changing user markets and competitive landscape, and limited structure and guidance)

  • Bonus only: experience engaging with and enabling large developer communities

  • Prior experience as a coding engineer or evidence of successfully serving this user

What to ExpectIn the first week, expect to:
  • Observe - get to know our: customers, product, team, and ways of working (we use OKRs)

  • Tell us where we got the expectations wrong below as you work to build a world class team and business

In the first month, expect to:
  • Continue learning (we love a growth mindset here and believe in progress over perfection)

  • Orient to the team’s talents, current product direction, and the resulting metrics

  • Compile early observations about where we should investigate making adjustments to maximize return on invested engineering effort

In the first three months, expect to:
  • Set goals (OKRs) with the team

  • Hiring a world class talent and making any needed adjustments to our hiring process in a collaborative way

  • Adjusting goals and roadmaps to help provide a better return on invested engineering effort

In the first year, expect to:
  • Have made system wide impact on Docker’s product while changing the lives of millions of developers

Docker does not offer visa sponsorship for this role.
