As the (Senior) Director of People Business Partnership, you will report into our VP of Operations & People and build and lead the People Business Partnership function from scratch. You’ll be in charge of doing the 0→1 building for this function: defining responsibilities of the People Business Function and where it fits into the Nourish ecosystem, designing the optimal org structure and roles, hiring and managing a team, setting the strategy and vision, and evolving the function as we scale. You’ll play a critical role in driving progress towards our goal of maximizing talent density at Nourish, and be a trusted partner to the executive team and function heads. This role will be high-impact, high-visibility, and highly strategic as you build the motion from scratch in an ambitious and fun culture.
This role is full-time and open to NYC-based candidates only (expectation to work in-person ~3 days per week, with some additional remote flexibility). Our office is located in Gramercy.
Key Responsibilities:- Be our first formal People Business Partner: learn the motion yourself directly by doing the work, partnering closely with department heads to understand where they most need People support and rolling out impactful initiatives
- Build and manage the People Business Partner function: design the org structure and key roles & responsibilities, hire the first team members, and manage the team as we scale
- Set the strategy and vision for the function: design the key goals of the function and define what success looks like, develop the project & product roadmaps, and lead all planning cycles
- Be a trusted partner to the executive team, department heads, and other People leadership, helping our leaders drive performance of their teams and acting as the voice of the people (upwards) and voice of the people team (outwards). This includes influencing org design, performance management, employee experience, and much more
- Drive forward cross-functional projects and initiatives in service of driving talent density at Nourish
- You have 6–10 years of experience, with a mix of strategy work (e.g., management consulting, business operations, financial services) and start-up experience; direct People and Talent-related experience preferred but not required
- You have strong people instincts and communication skills, with the ability to influence Director, VP, and C-suite stakeholders, and craft the Nourish culture as we scale
- You’re a strategic thinker who uses data and first principles to solve problems, and you aren’t afraid to do things the unconventional way. You’re open to challenging mainstream thinking if it doesn’t work for Nourish
- You’re operationally excellent; you’re able to manage a high volume of moving pieces and competing priorities with strong attention to detail and organization skills, while still maintaining momentum and clarity in a fast-paced environment
- You’re highly collaborative and cross-functional, able to work effectively across departments to advance towards goals
- You’re energized by 0→1 and 1→10 work, and enjoy stepping into undefined spaces to build structure, momentum, and clarity where none exist
