We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Engineering Group Leader to join our Engineering team for Enterprise Custody Services Platform. This role is located in New York. This leader will operate at the intersection of technology, product, architecture, operations, and business strategy. They will be expected to drive platform modernization, advance engineering excellence, and identify opportunities to apply automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve delivery speed, quality, and service outcomes. The role requires a leader who can combine deep technical and organizational judgment with strong execution discipline, talent leadership, and stakeholder influence. In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead a critical engineering portfolio across the Enterprise Custody Services Platform, setting direction for execution, modernization, and delivery performance
- Build and lead global engineering teams, ensuring strong organizational design, technical capability, and alignment to platform priorities
- Drive delivery of scalable, resilient, and secure technology solutions that improve business outcomes, client experience, and operational efficiency
- Partner across Product, Architecture, Operations, Risk, and business leadership to align engineering investments with strategic priorities and client needs
- Advance engineering excellence through modern software practices, stronger quality disciplines, and improved delivery rigor across the portfolio
- Identify and scale opportunities to apply automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve engineering productivity, workflow efficiency, and service outcomes
- Lead risk, control, and operational oversight across the portfolio, ensuring strong governance, resilience, and execution discipline
- Manage budgets, workforce planning, and investment priorities to deliver against strategic plans
- Recruit, develop, and retain strong engineering talent, while fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement
- Represent the organization in senior leadership forums, translating engineering priorities into clear business value and execution outcomes
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- 15+ years of experience leading large-scale engineering organizations and complex technology portfolios in large, complex enterprise environments
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong track record of delivering modernization, platform transformation, and engineering execution at scale
- Deep technical grounding in enterprise software engineering, distributed systems, integration patterns, APIs, cloud-enabled architectures, and resilient platform design
- Demonstrated experience leading global engineering teams in complex, matrixed environments
- Strong understanding of software delivery, engineering quality, operational controls, and risk management in high-availability environments
- Experience applying automation and AI-enabled capabilities to improve engineering productivity, delivery quality, operational efficiency, or service outcomes
- Strong business and stakeholder leadership skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, architecture, operations, risk, and senior business partners
- Track record of building high-performing teams and developing strong engineering leaders
- Experience in financial services, custody, securities processing, or similarly regulated environments preferred
BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
