MongoDB empowers innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data.
The Role
Lead MongoDB's internal data product portfolio, focusing on GTM, analytics, and self-serve data capabilities while managing a team of Product Managers.
Summary Generated by Built In

Our Internal Data team powers decisions and applications across MongoDB, supporting teams in Go-to-Market (GTM), Product and Technology, Finance, and HR. As MongoDB scales, we are making a significant investment in becoming a truly Data-Driven Enterprise — one built on trusted, governed golden data assets, world-class self-serve capabilities, and AI-ready data infrastructure. This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-visibility, company-defining initiative that will transform how MongoDB teams access, trust, and act on data.

This role can be based in one of our major U.S. offices (New York City, Austin, Palo Alto, or San Francisco) under our hybrid working model, or remotely within the United States.

As Senior Director of Data Product Management, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of MongoDB's internal data product portfolio, with an initial focus on Go-to-Market (GTM) functions including Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success. You will lead and grow a team of four Product Managers, partnering deeply with Data Pipeline, Platform Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Governance teams to deliver the data products MongoDB teams rely on every day. These products span data pipelines, canonical datasets, dashboards, APIs, ML models, and self-serve frameworks that power analytics, AI, and business decision-making at scale.

This role is ideal for a seasoned data product leader who brings both strategic vision and operational depth — someone who can engage credibly with C-suite stakeholders, inspire a high-performing team, and drive a complex, multi-workstream enterprise initiative from vision to measurable impact.

Responsibilities
  • Own and communicate a compelling, multi-year product vision and strategy for MongoDB's internal data products, anchored in the goal of building a Data-Driven Enterprise with trusted golden data and strong self-serve capabilities
  • Serve as a thought partner and key point of contact for C-suite and executive stakeholders, translating enterprise data strategy into a clear, prioritized product roadmap
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Product Managers, fostering a high-performance culture of ownership, curiosity, and impact
  • Champion the development of canonical, single-source-of-truth golden data assets that serve as the single source of truth for Customer, Product, People and Finance data, breaking down siloes and cultivating a common language across metrics business-wide
  • Drive the build-out of self-serve data capabilities that empower business users to access, explore, and act on trusted data with minimal friction
  • Partner with leadership across the company to identify and prioritize the highest-value opportunities where data products can improve decision-making, automate workflows, and accelerate growth
  • Work across Data Engineering, Architecture, Platform, and Governance teams within IT as well as our key partners in Analytics & Data Science to ensure data products are scalable, reliable, and aligned with enterprise data standards
  • Define and own success metrics for the data product portfolio, using data to demonstrate business impact and continuously raise the bar
  • Establish and evolve product development practices across the team, including roadmap planning, backlog management, agile delivery, and cross-functional coordination
  • Drive organization-wide adoption of data products through effective storytelling, clear documentation, enablement programs, and change management
Requirements
  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role managing product managers and delivering data products or data platforms at scale
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, strategic, enterprise-wide data democratization initiatives with executive visibility and cross-functional complexity
  • Deep understanding of modern data ecosystems, including data pipelines, lakehouse and medallion architectures, analytics platforms, and data governance frameworks
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to translate complex technical strategies into compelling narratives for C-suite audiences
  • Proven ability to define and execute a vision for trusted, governed data assets and scalable self-serve data capabilities
  • Experience building and scaling self-serve analytics and data enablement programs
  • Experience partnering with and influencing partner organizations across the company at the leadership level
  • Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of developing and retaining high-performing product talent
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, balancing long-term strategic thinking with near-term execution
Nice to Have
  • Background in analytics, data science, or data engineering
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data discoverability, or data catalog tooling
  • Exposure to AI/ML product development in the context of enterprise data platforms
