What You'll Do
As Flatiron's Controller, you will have reporting responsibility for the company's global accounting function, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and public company requirements. You will be responsible for evolving the Accounting function to support Flatiron's rapidly growing and increasingly complex business, including international operations and integration with our corporate parent, Roche.
- Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team with a culture of camaraderie, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Lead all accounting operations including close, billing and collections, revenue recognition, audit, tax compliance, technical accounting and financial reporting, deftly balancing the needs of accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and enhance Flatiron's internal control structure and accounting policies, ensuring SOX compliance and robust financial controls.
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance efficiency, while balancing the evolving needs of a complex international business.
- Ensure high standards of technical accounting knowledge and day-to-day application across the team.
- Support strategic decision-making by collaborating cross-functionally and providing expert advice on the financial implications of business decisions.
Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. You are a strong, proven leader with 10+ years of progressive in-house accounting experience, including 5+ years of people management and 5+ years serving as a controller at a company with multiple revenue streams and annual revenues in excess of $300M.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and a CPA or equivalent.
- You have proven experience building and mentoring high-performing accounting teams.
- You have deep knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-technical audiences and build trust and confidence at the executive level.
- You are goal-oriented and demonstrate high integrity and dependability.
- You are comfortable operating in a high-growth environment and managing through related organizational change.
Extra credit

- Experience with Netsuite ERP.
- Knowledge of accounting operations in a B2B environment, especially healthcare, CRO, SaaS, technology and/or professional services.
- MBA in Accounting or Finance.

Job Compensation Range
Salary Range: $208,000.00 - $312,000.00
Preferred Primary Location: NY hub
The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
