About this roll*:

Join Toast's Consumer org, an emerging B2C venture within Toast. Our mission is to create a restaurant-friendly consumer network to help our restaurant customers thrive. We're seeking a seasoned, hands-on growth leader to drive the expansion of our Local by Toast consumer app. As the first growth hire in this rapidly growing org, you'll build and scale our growth capability. You'll partner with B2C leaders across Product, Design, Engineering, Care, Strategy & Ops and Toast's Marketing team to rapidly scale the distribution and impact of the Local by Toast app.

Key Responsibilities
As the Head of Consumer Growth, you will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to drive sustainable and profitable user acquisition, engagement, and retention for Local by Toast. You will partner closely with the Consumer R&D team to innovate and scale the app, ensuring measurable impact on business goals. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Own channel strategy and budget allocation across all growth bets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment on growth priorities, communicate performance insights, and advocate for growth-related resource needs
  • Develop the growth tech stack and data infrastructure, selecting and implementing attribution and automation tools that enable effective experimentation and measurement
  • Partner with R&D team to optimize user flows and develop new product experiences driven by growth insights
  • Drive community engagement initiatives-both online and offline-to foster brand advocacy and word-of-mouth growth. Collaborate with the Toast Marketing Team to develop and launch the Local by Toast brand.
  • Plan and execute regional market pilots of new product experiences to optimize for finding product market fit.
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to track growth performance
  • Build and lead a high-performing growth team as the team scales
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making

Do you have the right ingredients*:
We're looking for an entrepreneurial and results-oriented leader with a passion for consumer technology and a deep understanding of growth dynamics. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven track record of driving profitable growth for consumer-facing apps and marketplaces
  • Deep knowledge of hyperlocal growth strategies, including geotargeted campaigns, local SEO, and referral networks
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage venture environment where speed, iteration, and adaptability are key to success
  • Proven ability to make data-driven budget decisions and report on cost-efficiency metrics to executive stakeholders.
  • Deep experimentation mindset: comfortable designing and interpreting A/B tests, multivariate experiments, and user feedback loops
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across the organization
  • Technical fluency with CRM/CDP platforms, analytics/SQL, attribution tools, and marketing automation platforms
  • Passion for local dining experiences and consumer technology
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field preferred but not required

The estimated Total Targeted Cash compensation range for this role is listed below. Total Targeted Cash for this role consists of a base salary, commission, plus the eligibility for equity and/or other benefits. This role qualifies for uncapped commissions. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location.
